notes
Jannos Eolou is a composer who creates tonal, formalistic compositions, evolving his ‘style of composition’ into what he calls ‘expressionistic minimalism’.
He considers film music as the real continuation of the opera of the 19th century and composes for films, but also music alone that creates ‘cinematic’ images in our minds, emotions, ideas.
Jannos Eolou is an artistic moralist, a post-modern composer who can not understand how some perceive art mentally, inculpatory romantic, a pessimist by nature, heroic out of defense, a music workaholic who creates a musical world as a shelter for himself as well as his followers.
Wintry Nostalgia is a soundtrack for the film by Kostas Aenian, a Greek director who deals with a son’s relation to his father, his adolescence, his adult job, his identity. It was recorded with the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra. Harminica is played by Stefan Slavov. It is one of his late recordings, and one of the best, before passing away. He has collaborated with Ennio Moriccone.
Wintry Nostalgia Soundtrack was released in a limited edition but has reached a devoted audience.
