This is the first CD that I’ve purchased of Janet Beazley’s and I’m extremely impressed with it! This is one of the best CDs that I’ve purchased in years! I highly recommend it to everybody!

  • A stunning, musically eclectic album!
    author: Roger Wells

There are not many full albums that I would rave about. This is one of them. Every song on this album is a gem of a different color. Chris Stuart, Janet Beazley, et al, have jumped to the top of my favorites list of musicians. If you see any of their names on a project you may rest assured it will be high quality and beautifully rendered. It is very easy to get lost in the music of this album and, as another reviewer earlier stated, it is just way too short. I ordered three copies as gifts and will be purchasing more of this very talented lady's projects.

  • What an amazing album!
    author: Gavin Crooks

After meeting Janet Beazley at Sore Fingers Summer School in 2007, I was inspired to hear more of her playing. I wasn't disappointed with what I found! This CD features some absolutely awesome banjo playing and fantastic tunes, delivered with great skill yet without relying on virtuosic complexity to sell them. Easily one of the best albums ive bought.

  • I lover it
    author: Paul Ponto

When I heard Janet’s CD for the first time, I was riding with a friend. The first thing I noticed was the group was playing at a tempo that made the pieces swing, not a tempo to see who could play fastest. The next thing I heard was they were absolutely in tune to me. I don’t have perfect pitch but this was great. Then, when I heard the variety in the music, I was sold. I learned by reading the liner notes that the variety was because the music was selected from original tunes, Renaissance tunes, and shape note songs. My final review: I loved it. I bought a copy for me and three as gifts.

  • Uplifting and inspirational talent
    author: Anthony Hall

Janet Beazley's collection of old and new will send your emotions into turmoil, you will dance then weep then laugh and sing. This multi-talented lady (with a Doctorate in early music) has a cristal-clear voice that could pierce the stoniest of hearts and harmonies that most singers can only dream about. From the uplifting Chris Stuart song about the Julia Belle Swain riverboat that will have you singing along at full volume, to the heart-rending "You'll never care" that will tug at your heart strings, to the stunning harmonies of "White", this album could appeal to everyone. Janet is a rare talent and a wonderful person with an enthusiasm for Bluegrass that is infectious. Meeting her and listening to Backcountry encouraged me to dig deeper into Bluegrass and to take up the banjo. One criticism: the album is too short! I eagerly await her next offering.

  • Fantastic music - incredible vocals!

I'm absolutely enthralled with the track 'Sweet Prospect'. I bought the CD for that track alone. Then I was in love with the rest of it too. Absolutely fantastic.

  • A wonderful CD that will propel Janet Beazley to new heights.
    author: Dave Richardson

There are so many emotions that this CD evokes that I don't know where to start. First of all, Janet has tone, timing, and taste in her presentation, whether it be in her singing or in her instruments. Her banjo playing will amaze any listener that has not heard her. She is inventive without being pretentious, a quality that more banjo players should strive for. This is a flawlessly produced CD with excellent singing, harmony, and musicianship. The addition of the recorders and tin whistles gives some of the tunes a Celtic feel. I am sure that her band would be quite at home touring the pubs of Ireland some time in the future. Buy this CD!
