notes
The word genius gets bandied about by fans and family. The reviewers think the CD is great.
It's my 17th and I love this CD.
I'm on tour about half the year and am writing all the time.
I've toured with Bonnie Raitt, Chick Corea, Steven Wright, Nicolette Larson, Robin Williams and Robin Trower to name a few.
But mostly I do solo concerts around the country.

Traces is an extraordinary work.
author: E. FrizziTRACES OF THE OLD ROAD, is the latest offering from singer/songwriter/performer James Lee Stanley. This is an album of deceptively simple melodies, extraordinarily lyrical imagery, and perfect, expressive vocals James has been at this a long time, and both his technical and artistic skills are shown to great effect in TRACES. Thematically TRACES explores the journeys, both physical and emotional, that we all take through the process of living, and that, inevitably, lead us back home again. This theme is explored in two sets of songs, the first looking at the journey out into the world and the lessons we learn, while the second set examines the journey back home, with all the things we have acquired along the way. And, as a bridge between the two, a single restful, instrumental, pause. The songs consist primarily of James’ own compositions with the addition of a couple of Bob Dylan tunes. It’s a lovely, lively, tremendously musical album that can only enhance any collection.
A stunning auditory experience
author: Grandpa MacThis is an astonishing CD, the best by the artist - and that's saying something. A couple of wonderful Dylan covers, but the rest are originals. Some very strong tracks that can make you sit up and take notice - including "Last Day of Summer", "One Heart Falling", "Too Many People" and "Stolen Season". This has been on the top of my play list for over six months with no change in sight. WHY ISN'T THIS MAN FAMOUS???????????????
In a more perfect world this CD would already be platinum.
author: p. AdamowichTraces Of The Old Road is a wonderful selection of well-crafted songs. The Last Day of Summer is lovely, and I am told, dedicated to September 10th. There is also a very cool sounding instrumental as well. But then, each song is outstanding and I recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys quality music. In a more perfect world, it would already be platinum.
