(About MP3 downloads at CD Baby)

A live concert from a guy with a voice like James Taylor, an outlook like Randy Newman, a hint of REM, a suggestion of Loudon Wainwright III, and a guitar off of John Prine's front porch. Straight up singer/songwriter rolk rock.

notes

This CD was recorded live solo performance at the Mermaid Inn, Philadlephia's premiere folk club. It documents one night of Jake singing original songs that draw from both his roots in rural Indiana, and his adult life in Philadelphia. You'll hear beer glasses clinking and the bus outside. It's all there. It's all real.

If you're looking for big a big-time production, you won't find it here. This was not even mastered, so it's raw music. But if you like wandering into a smoky pub, and listening to a stanger up on a the stage, alone with his guitar, belting out songs from the heart without a safety net, this is the CD for you.

Soon after this CD was made, Jake teamed up with Jim Harris and formed the band King Platypus. We now have two CDs. The most recent is "Life's a Mess, Lets Dance," which you can also get on CD baby. If you want to see how Jake evolved from 1997 to 2006, check it out. Indeed, it's been a wild ride. Now that I'm ten years older I can look back on this CD and say, "That Jake, he did pretty good for a young guy."
