notes
A drifter from Chicago who spent a lot of time with the old blues masters. Also known for acting in independant films.
This album conatins Jake's original song from the movie ANIMAL FACTORY, "This Aint The Way I came Up".
The very best of early Jake songs...strictly acoustic!
Recorded in Joshua Tree, California at the home/studio of Victoria Williams.

The Best
author: AngelinaAll I have to say is holy shit!!
It's hard to find good music these day...This Is It!!
author: RobertJake La Botz is a breath of fresh air to the ears. Very good songwriter w/ his own stamp on the traditional blues. Do yourself a favour and get this CD, then after that, try his new release "All Soul and No Money". On this one he has a backing band and plays some electric and acoustic guitar. What are you waiting for?
This CD was a perfect 10
author: TiffanyThis CD was awesome!! Just a man and his guitar.... nothing to hide behind. It's not often that you come upon someone with such raw talent....Thank You Jake
Don't know for sure just something I heard
author: Tony Pizzicatothis album is probably the best acoustic album i've ever heard. jake's voice and lyrics are nothing short of fantastic. i only have a surface knowlege of the blues. however, you don't need shit-else besides something to play this album. it is good music. and that is all that really matters.
Great traditional Blues
author: GarySathonys13I loved this cd from start to finish, particularly This Ain't The Way I Came Up. I think Jake does a wonderful job with accoustic Blues, and he had just the right voice for it too. I'm looking forward to more great music from this artist.
You gotta hear this guy!
author: JuicyharpI had no knowledge of Jake La Botz before seeing the movie "Animal Factory". As a blues player (and a very critical one at that), I purchased "Used To Be" to give him a listen. I must say, I was very impressed with his ability to take a very traditional style of music and make it "his own" without compromising it's integrity and churning out a bunch of cliche swill as has been done all too many times by other so called "artists" I'm glad to see someone still understands! If you dig the old dead guys...you gotta hear Jake La Botz!
Jake La Botz rocks the delta
