Poetic verse at it's finest... From live, intimate performances to production influenced by several genres of music including soul, hip-hop, blues, and gospel, "SOUL SAMPLES" is sure to stir the mind and embrace the spirit.
The artist; "Issim Dark" is a Motown original that finds home in the heat of Phoenix, AZ. This word-smith is known to transform the stage into a classroom where lessons of realism are revealed through tactful presentation through theatrical poetry. For Issim this journey as a spoken word artist began in 1997 in Detroit's Cafe Mahogany. Following his first public reading Issim was invited to feature as an opening act for the legendary Last Poets.
Not until several years later, and many frustrations of trying to fit into several careers, would Issim's childhood hobby of writing and his mission to be of help to others lead way to his lifestyle as a touring artist. Skills honed as a playwright, actor, free-lance writer, poet, song lyricist, and PR professional would later be fused with creativity, musical ability and drive to bring what was once just a thought into reality.
Issim has graced the stage with celebrities such as Stevie Wonder, Paul Rodriguez, Sista Souljah, Erika Badu and Musiq Soulchild. Off stage Issim develops and implements workshops for at-risk-youth using performing arts as an instrument to engage.

Never knew poetry was like this!!
author: StacksThis is clever. I never considered myself a poetry fan, but this gives a new breath to the art. Honesty, real topics, anthems, blues... damn. This is a must have, with something for every generation.
