Chuck Woods, better known as IsReal, is a rapper / producer / song writer and studio engineer. IsReal has spent the last fifteen years sharpening his writing as well as entrepreneurial skills. Like most inner city youth, IsReal’s love of hip hop became a way of life and he has spent the last decade establishing his position as one of the most innovative and positive hip hop artist.
Born on Chicago’s South Side, IsReal absorbed the inner city landscape and from a very young age developed the ability to paint pictures with word and convey stories that would later become a way of life. IsReal was literally coaxed into the recording booth by a young producer, Brian Hines, who was working with a local Chicago group called Down by Law. With his first recording, Down by Law, requested IsReal to appear on their album. IsReal’s solo garnered rave reviews and with that his journey into the music industry began.
In 2006, IsReal, Jaz-E, and William Craig, formulated the live band IsReal Authentic, which is a mix of positive hip hop, neo soul and R&B. The band calls this melting pot of music “Hip Hop Melodic”. Members of the band include, IsReal (vocals), Jaz-E (boards), Will Craig (boards), Jeremy Johnson (drums) and Kevin Muse (bass). Within the last year IsReal Authentic has opened for Tony, Toni, Tone and performed for Kindred Family’s after party. IsReal Authentic’s recordings include the singles, “My People”, a tribute to the victims of Hurricane Katrina, “Trust”, “Mother Cry”, “Best Day”, “Best Day Remix” and “Anniversary” featuring Tony, Toni, Tone. IsReal continues to produce, write and consult for local artist.
