Children's music with an Island twist.

notes

In order to fulfill a demand for traditional Island music, the steel band combo Island Ed’s Steel Drum Band was born. The combo, composed of four graduates from Miami University, specialize in authentic Island music rooted in traditional Trinidadian, Latin American, and Brazilian styles. The ensemble is comprised of steel drums including a lead pan, double tenor pans as well a rhythm section of bass guitar and drums.

With over 25 years of combined steel drum band experience, their unique Caribbean music has entertained crowds ranging from private parties and wedding receptions to corporate events and festivals.

Our reasons for recording Island Ed’s Lil’ Isle Ditties.
After witnessing the way children react to lively energetic music, Island Ed’s Steel Drum Band began looking into the idea of recording music for children. Each member of the band is either a father, uncle, or a relative to small child. It was decided that the Island Ed Steel Drum Band would focus its collective talents into music that our children and all children could enjoy. In addition to children’s enjoyment, Island Ed’s Lil’ Isle Ditties has been designed to educate and expose children to world music in a fun and unique way. Complex rhythms and melodies altered to fit a Caribbean style are quite stimulating, and their familiarity with the well-known children’s songs makes it an approachable experience. Please enjoy this CD and look for future releases from Island Ed’s Steel Drum Band.

This is a must for children--Our grand daughters, ages 2, 4, and 6 dance and sing to this cd. They really enjoy the songs on it because they recognize them.

What a great way to introduce children to a new style of music using some of the greatest classic songs. I have been looking for a way to share my love for island music with the many young people in my life, at last I found the perfect way. This CD brings out the kid in everyone, great find!
