notes
"An ultimate realization of pain-through-sound." -- Alternative Press
"As history tells it, TOI are the essential Detroit hardcore band of the 1990s." --Shane Degalis, Isound.
The Thoughts of Ionesco legend has apparently grown sicne their bloody departure in 1999. They are one of those bands whose stories and music seem to grow richer as time passes. What CD Baby is offering here is a rare B-sides and oddities compilation that was self-released on the band's own label. "Abnormalilities" collects several singles, alternate takes, and live tracks for a perverse look into the minds of these madmen.
TOI is like a combination of Black Flag, Black Sabbath, Tool, and Slayer, but with more emotion than all of those combined. In fact, when we first got the submissions here at CD Baby, one of our staff threatened to quit unless we turned it off. Yes, it's that fierce. For everyone? Hell no. But for those who like to batter themselves with heavy, dark, chaotic sonic violence, look no further. This is the real deal. And these guys can play. Whew.
TOI were the best of an era and came a few years before their time (heavy music was not so envouge during their painful existence). Imagine the slums of Detroit on fire set to the sounds of pumelling guitars and a screaming, madman poet and you'd be close.
Essential for anyone into metal or hardcore.
CD BABY.
