notes
Born and raised in Harlem, NY, I grew up listening to old 45's of Sam Cooke, James Brown, The Temptations, The Four Tops and Jackie Wilson. As a teenager, the soulful sounds of 135th St. and Lenox Ave. gave my feet a beat to tap to, my mind a few things to think about and a drive that touched my soul. Prince, Al Green, Rick James, George Clinton and Luther Vandross were my music teachers and from them I learned the true definition of musical expression.
As a self-taught musician, I found myself wanting to play any instrument I could get my hands on...please don't ask me to play the saxophone though...:-)
As I got older, I did the norm, went to college (Boston College), graduated. Then went to school again for myself...(Berklee College of Music), graduated! Before long, I began to become the musician that has long been inside of me.
Today, I sing with a band called Busta Groove (www.busta-groove.com) and have finally finished my first solo project, Words and Beats. The music and the words represent my life as it has been so far. I hope you enjoy it, listen to the words, feel the beat, then...repeat!
Stay beautiful.

Mellow R &B with a non-cmmercial feel
author: Nika BeamonThe title of words and beats says it all... The inspired beats lull the listener into a state of calm while the words will fill your ears and soul with inspiring thoughts and messages. The singer's fluid delivery blends well with the tunes and lyrics and will make you wish there were more cuts on the album.
Knew it all along
author: DeeKnew Ian for a long time and it's about time the world knew his talent as well. Smooth, jazzy, and electric just like Ian. Congrats love it's wonderful.
Contempory vocals backed by classic R&B sound...
author: Alan TamayoWords and Beats is a very listenable CD either in the car or in the backgound while working. An eclectic collection of steady, funky jams reminiscent of the Isley Brothers, D'Angelo, Keith Sweatt and dare I say Terence Trent D'Arby. If anything, the influences seem pretty apparent. Looking forward to hearing more from Mr. Brown.
Rising Star - No Kidding
author: Jeff McMahonAs keyborad player for the Dancehall Doctors, Tim McGraw's, band - I first discovered Ingar when we were on the road last year. He and his band - Busta Groove played at half time of a Sacramento Kings Basketball Game and we all agreed that this guy was destined for greatness. His ability to blend a smooth rythum with a funky beat are halmarks of musical tallent and I look forward to seeing this kid go places. Rock On Ingar - Jeff
Amazing voice
author: princess_vontrappI knew Ingar Brown from Basta Groove but this solo effort allows his fantastic voice to be displayed in its full glory. When I put in the CD, I could not believe how great it sounded. Seal better watch out! The CD has beautiful lyrics and is perfect for a romantic evening, as well as driving in the car, cooking...any occassion really.
