WOW! Sounding like they could've been on Andrew Oldham's great Immediate label back in the late 60's, this is top notch guitar and Hammond fueled Mod/garage pop rock outta France! The band formed in 1995 out of the gathering of musicians coming from various garage bands (among which Stinky Spider) and have reached their present state after the arrival of two new recruits, François and Xavier (ex-Looneys), a buoyant organist and jumpy performer on stage. The sound of the band was then deeply modified with the organ flying high over the beats. On this 12-tracker, they dish out nine tasty originals along with blistering covers of "She's Not There" by The Zombies, "Brainwashed" by The Kinks, and "Mrs. Applegate" by The Apemen! Originals like "Silly Thing" start out all Kink-ish, then go into a Yardbirds-like "rave up"! "Book Of Yours" is very Who-like! "Mr. mac Bee" makes great use of the "Taxman" (Beatles)/"Start" (The Jam") trademark riffs combined with an original twist all their own! They expertly display Freak Beat, elegant ties, vocal harmonies, Vespa scooters and British beats all at once in one extremely tight bundle! These guys will appeal "immediate"ly (no pun intended) to fans of The Prisoners, The Kinks, The Who, The Small Faces, The Green Circles and great organ-laced garage pop in general! Can't say enough about this one! GREAT!!

The Immediates have reached their present state after having settled down in Nantes in 1998 and seen the conspicuous arrival of two new recruits, François and Xavier (ex-Looneys), a buoyant organist and jumpy performer on stage. The sound of the band was then deeply modified with the organ flying high over the beats.

After having changed their drummer twice, Captain Y (Ultra Milkmaids, the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean) joined in during the summer 2005, and has since then been providing the band with renewed rhythms in the pure 60’s beat fashion.

Formée en 1995 sur l’assemblage de plusieurs garage bands (Stinky Spider) the Immediates prennent leur envol et leur forme définitive avec l’installation à nantes en 1998 et l’arrivée remarquée de nouveaux membres, françois et xavier (ex-Looneys) organiste bouillonnant et performer sautillant.

Le son du groupe est fortement modifié, l’orgue survol les beats .
Apres 2 batteurs, l’arrivée de Captain y (Ultra Milkmaids / Star and Key of the Indian Ocean) été 2005 redonne au groupe une nouvelle rythmique dans le pure tradition du 60’s beat !

The Immediates ne s’interdisent aucune exploration dans leur répertoir ; combinant compos et reprise (the Remains, Zombies, Small Faces …), freak beat, jolies cravates, harmonies vocales, scooter vespa et british beat !

    "Clean recording under difficult circumstances" lautet das abgewandelte Mod-Credo der vier Nordfranzosen. Was kann man sich darunter vorstellen? Natürlich gibt es hier orgeldominierten Freakbeat im allerbesten pill-popping Sound, angesiedelt zwischen REMAINS, ZOMBIES und SMALL FACES. Neuzugang Captain Y von den Surfern STAR AND KEY OF THE INDIAN OCEAN an den Drums verleiht den Songs dabei den nötigen Schmackes, damit die Desert Boots keine Sekunde zur Ruhe kommen, und die Zuhörer wie vom Go-Go-Strahl elektrisiert nächtelang den Shake tanzen, auch wenn die Band einen Boogaloo spielt. Ein furioses Neo-Mod Album, nicht zu verwechseln mit Mod-Revivalismus (à la 1979), denn das war ja meistens nichts anderes als schnöder Powerpop. Hier klingt alles nach 1966, und das ist auch gut so. Gar nicht gut allerdings ist das ZOMBIES-Cover "She's not there", auch wenn es ein Granatensong ist, braucht wirklich niemand NOCH eine Version, die nicht besser oder schlechter als alle davor klingt.

    12 songs: Each has a real personality because of the arrangement of voices, the chords, the B3 organ. Some are sexy (this kind of song we want to dance on immediatly): Caroline, Book of yours.. and some are songs we love better and better each time we're listening to it. It makes of it a real complete album with garage energy, and beauty of voices and organ band.
