Les Cartes Imaginaires, the self-titled debut from Seattle based Imaginary Maps, is a tour de force of glittering guitars, raunchy riffs, celestial strings, and beatific choruses, recommended for those who like Radiohead, DJ Shadow, and the Doves.

notes

Imaginary Maps-led by 25 year old frontman, producer, and Seattle native VEO-is a collective of musicians that make articulate, impassioned alternative rock suggesting comparisons to artists ranging from Radiohead, Tears for Fears, Doves, and the Tea Party to Depeche Mode, XTC, Billy Bragg, and Spiritualized. Since their inception in 2002, Imaginary Maps have been written-up on dozens of sites across the Internet including Amazon.com and CDNow.com, and their songs have been played on Seattle radio stations KNDD and KEXP. Imaginary Maps self-titled debut (a.k.a. Les Cartes Imaginaires) released on Way-Sign records in 2003, received an honorable mention from Little Lines Music Magazine in its best of Seattle Indie-Rock roundup, and was hailed in reviews as "superb" (The Conjecturer), "a very solid debut" (Evilsponge), "an extremely unique album" (Delusions of Adequacy), "dense, dark and beautiful" (Mundanesounds) and "a lush rock record" (Grapevine Culture). Imaginary Maps' sophomore release Avion is an epic post-human love story featuring backing vocals by members of the world renowned Total Experience Gospel Choir, best known for their work on Dave Mathew's Grammy winning CD Some Devil. Watch for VEO as he brings the current seven piece lineup of Imaginary Maps to the stage at a venue near you.
