notes
It’s been 10 years since Illustrate first stepped on the scene. From his debut release in 1996, “Summons of a Soldier,” to his newest project, “Chronicles of Life,” his mission has never changed. He still speaks Christ to the hip hop culture. He speaks on life hardships and trials as well as the victory of overcoming each obstacle. In an industry, still filled with artists that cling to the thug and pimp personas, Illustrate still strives to be an individual.
It’s been a few years since a project has been completed, but after a brief hiatus, he is back and stronger than ever. Now he has teamed up with fellow rap artist, Minority, and together they have founded Rezurrected Muzic. The newest release, “Chronicles of Life,” is Illustrate’s strongest release to date. It features guest appearances by Dirt (Shadow of the Locust), Jendor, Joe Bereal, DJ Chonz, Minority, Spokin 11, Tak Tik, Cris Cameo and Manna. All songs on the project were produced by Illustrate as well. Jase from Saltybeatz also added some flavor with the intro, outro and an interlude.
Through out his time of rockin’ mics, Illustrate has performed with such artists as Fros’T, Unity Klan, Dirt, Sackcloth Fashion, Mars Ill, John Rueben, Preacha’s in tha Hood, and Luke Geraty.
Though he faces a culture that is content with self indulgence and bling bling, Illustrate comes hard with the word of God and real rhyme skills. He believes anything done for the Kingdom of God will last and should be done with excellence.
