notes
Ike Willis joined the late Frank Zappa's band in 1977 and took his place for more than ten years as singer and guitarist for some of the greatest bands you never heard in your life.
Now if you've heard Zappa's bands, then you know Ike Willis. Ike is featured on nearly 30 Zappa CDs and is most popular for his seminal vocal work on such works as "Thing-Fish" and "Joe's Garage, Acts I, II (& III)".
Ike plays Ike Willis music, too. For the new CD, "Ike Willis: Selected Works," Ike chose tracks from his "Should'a Gone Before I Left" and "Dirty Pictures" releases. These are digitally re-mastered by Grammy award winning producer, Douglas Spotted Eagle.
Ike Willis has been busy for the last few years performing in North and South America, Europe and in 2003, Australia. Ike has been recently featured on numerous radio and television programs and as featured 'guest artist' on videos, recordings and tours with acts such as; Moe, Les Claypool, Project Object, Terry Robb, Italy's Elio e le Storie Tese and more.
Ike will be touring in support the new CD with Project Object and other bands on 4 continents with performances scheduled through mid 2003.
It is my sincere hope that you enjoy Ike Willis' music as much I do and that together we can support this tremendous artist in bringing us more of his music for years to come.
Thank you,
Steve Auerbach

Great quality tunes!
author: Gary MaiulloThis is a great compilation of Ike's work outside of FZ. The music is stunning, the arrangements kick ASS, and the playing is superb! There is not a klunker on here. My particular favorite is The Hollow Earth -- it's an absolute masterpiece! It would be nice to have the 2 original releases remastered/re-released, but I'm also looking forward to new material from Mr. Ike Willis & Co. Thanks for the memories (so far)....
IKE WILLIS-SHOWING HIS STUFF
author: ARMINTROUTSELECTED WORKS demonstrates Zappa's decision to collaborate with Ike Willis for the remainder of his life. Ike's talents shine through here! I hope for the re-release of the two originals. Don't forget PROJECT OBJECT...
This record/artist is highly underrated...
author: DaveI got my copy in the mail about a week ago and to be honest, there isn't a song on this record that I DON'T like. Ike's voice is amazing and musically this record reminds me of zappa, though it stands on its own. I saddens me a bit Ike hasn't been getting the exposure he deserves, because this really IS a great record! Ike for president! I'm gonna get a cup of coffee now and put on I Know, just for the extreme smooooootheness of that song. This is Dave from the netherlands saying: getthisrecord!!

When you’re a guitarist and singer in Frank Zappa’s band for a decade, it’s gonna rub off— there are worse things. Selected Works is the essential Ike Willis collection in that it’s the only Ike Willis collection, gathering and re-mastering solo material. Indulge yourself in this powerhouse album of great progressive rock with a touch of the 80's and a hearty dose of soul.
So darn good I wish I had the original releases!
author: a actual guyAre you kidding me? This CD is fabulous and fun. I really wish I'd heard the songs in context of the original releases. I can't imagine the songs not included were in any way less stimulating. I want more!
LOVED THIS GUY SINCE THE DAYS OF "CLOWN"...

Some soulful blues-jazz-reggae-whatever you’ve never heard. Get it.
author: Bill Frost, City Weekly NewspaperIKE WILLIS Selected Works (UWannaRecords.com) * * * * When you’re a guitarist and singer in Frank Zappa’s band for a decade, it’s gonna rub off—there are worse things. Selected Works is the essential Ike Willis collection in that it’s the only Ike Willis collection, gathering and re-mastering solo material from his out-of-print Should’a Gone Before I Left (‘88) and Dirty Pictures (‘98) that meshes seamlessly despite the gap. Unlike other solo Zappa sidemen, Willis is more soulful than technical, but this is still some of the most complex blues-jazz-reggae-whatever you’ve never heard. Get it.
