notes

Check out this exciting new band with their distinctive original sound and plenty of talent to spare.

In a Split Second blend exquisite female vocals and lyrical acoustic guitar with the vibrancy of electric guitar, keyboards and contemporary rhythms on their latest album 'Infinite Fiction'.

Songs, poetic and cleverly written are set off by melodic fretless bass and outstanding drumming in this unique and powerful music.

Sometimes dynamic, always evocative, this is a sound that will have a lasting effect on the listener.

Beautifully worked instrumental backing provides the perfect platform for the wonderful lead vocals in Infinite Fiction. Comparisons to Enya and Clannad are inevitable, as the track achieves a similar spacey New Age feel. Highland Dervish blends Dub bass lines, New Age digitally delayed electric guitar and Celtic folk influences to create an interesting mix of seemingly incongruous styles. Mull Fisher's Love Song starts with a similar feel, before receding to a relaxing sequence of lyrical exchanges between the male and female vocalists.

In a Split Second are:

Adarsha - electric and acoustic guitars Adarsha began playing guitar at the age of 14. He has played all over the world; in travelling theatre groups, for the 'Gurdjieff Sacred Dances' trainings, in blues bands in America, a folk band in Japan, and an east west synthesis band in Italy. His guitar style embraces both acoustic finger style and electric playing. He has recorded on many albums as a session musician and on the In a Split Second albums 'It Happens..'and 'Infinite Fiction'.

From touching acoustic guitar and fiery rock solos, to cool bluesy-style riffs, Adarsha has a sound which is impressive in its versatility and is an intrinsic part of In a Split Second's distinct and original flavor.

Surabhi - vocals, keyboard, sequencing Originally trained in classical music and dance, Surabhi began singing and composing 10 years ago, and since then has performed in Austria, Germany, Italy and India as the lead vocalist of In a Split Second. She composed and arranged many of the tracks on 'It Happens..'and 'Infinite Fiction', and went on to release a solo album, 'Dreams of Sea and Sky' comprising her own original pieces and arrangements of Hebridean songs.

Still maintaining the beauty of her earlier work, Surabhi is now writing songs around drum and bass using the influence of contemporary dance grooves. Ranging from a haunting and clear tone to a richer almost jazzy scat style, her voice, once heard is rarely forgotten.

Prabodh - bass guitars Prabodh has played internationally in various world music projects and worked as a session musician. Having a wide spectrum of experience in different styles has enabled him to develop a flexible and original sound, using both fretless and fretted Steinberger and acoustic basses. He moves easily between melodic phrasing and punchy grooves creating a strong link between the rhythm section and the rest of the band.
