notes
Portland, Oregon native Ian Doescher wrote and recorded this collection of songs about his hometown, in preparation for his return to the Best Coast after many years of exile in Connecticut and New York. All proceeds from the album go directly toward the fund to bring Ian and his family back to Portland! The ten songs are a fun mix of styles and moods, all in a contemporary a cappella setting. Complete lyrics and other album information -- including the One Year of Portland Songs Blog -- are available online at www.portlandsongs.com. Ian is also the artist behind "Sing Along With EE," a children's album also available on CD Baby! (Album cover photography by Mark A. Petersen.)
The album is now available through many major digital distributors, including iTunes and Napster. Just search for "Doescher." You can also buy an MP3 version of the album right here through CD Baby!

Portland: The Album
author: Cynthia O'BrienFor a hip, Gresham girl from California, a real treat! If you can't find me, send a search party to the Red Room.
So fun!
author: Janet EmchI've lived in Portland all my life so I can really appreciate his wit. Of course, I had to order the CD to share with my teenage girls :)
Portland: The Album
author: Maria HeinI gave this CD to my "kids" (loosely defined extended family who have moved to far off places). I recently listened to it while visiting one of said kids while we were driving down the freeway in CA. Love "My Name is MAX". She loves the Rose Festival number. Says it IS her childhood!
Portland: The Album
author: Karen O'ConnorMy family loves Back to Portland and Lost in Powell's. Things that everyone from Portland can relate to!
DIY Triumph
author: Christopher NazeThis album is worth the price just for Urban Growth Boundaries Can't Stop My Love. In true Portland spirit, the track has an underlying sincerity and beauty that is enhanced by the humor, not undercut by it. Pearl Girl has the same appeal. I'm getting some flavors of Todd Rundgren's "Hodja" and a definite Jonathan Richman vibe. Good stuff! Buy the CD and help Ian get home to the Rose City.
Portland: The Album
author: Linda McKinneyYou might have to "get it" (about Portland that is) to love it, but I can hardly wait to send Portland: The Album to my brother who has to live in Omaha for a few years!
