HYPNOISE (HYPnotic-NOISE) unexpectedly began as a group in 1996.
The members originally got together as an experimental project, but within a few short weeks had written an entire sets worth of original material.
By this point there was no turning back.
The new songsdrew from many influences of modern rock with a strong foundation in the rock traditions of Led Zeppelin and Syd Barret era Pink Floyd.
Los Angeles based producer, Ronan Chris Murphy, who has worked with King Crimson, Steve Morse, Terry Bozzio, Irakere and members of Tool, Ministry and Weezer, was hired to produce and mix the album.
An intense three week period of preproduction and recording in January of '98 at Condulmer Studio (Treviso, Italy) with engineer Max Bacchin brought the first version of album "OPIUM", to life.
After Signing with MP records Hypnoise went to Seattle to do more work on Opium.
The changes including bringing in Trey Gunn of King Crimson and Robert Roth of the band Truly as guest musicians and improved mixes of most of the songs.
