notes
The Hutchinson/Andrew Trio is an acoustic piano trio bringing together three of Alberta's finest up and coming jazz musicians. Calgary bassist; Kodi Hutchinson, and Edmonton Pianist; Chris Andrew head the group. 2004 Juno Nominated drummer Sandro Dominelli from Edmonton fills out the ensemble.
The group has been a work in progress for the few years. After meeting on a Big Band gig in Edmonton for jazz luminaries Slide Hampton and Hugh Fraser a few years ago, Kodi and Chris began working steadily together throughout the Alberta Jazz Scene in various groups. Kodi and Chris instantly hit it off both as friends and musically. In 2002 they began performing across Alberta as a regular trio performing their own original compositions.
In the fall of 2004 the group finally was able to go into the studio and document their musical progress recording their debut CD 'Lost but not forgotten'. The Hutchinson Andrew Trio's music can be categorized as contemporary acoustic jazz. It mixes contemporary swing and acoustic groove music to form a unique trio sound.
