notes
You haven't listened to Eric Hutchinson yet? Oh, you must not be a fan of intelligent pop music. Or is it that you hate hearing new music that is modern yet schooled in the prime of pop music's yesteryears? For the last 5 years Eric Hutchinson has been cultivating his own brand of acoustic green-eyed soul. Now it is time for you to hear it. Notice the painstakingly placed lyrics, brimming with sarcasm and wit. Turn your attention to his carefully crafted, yet effortless melodies. He sings! He plays guitar! AND piano! He may very well be the next Stevie Wonder! ...but probably not.
Not only has Eric spent the last few years showcasing his musical gift for audiences all across the country, but he’s managed to do it all on his own. Without a band, a label, a booking agent, a tour manager or a publicist, Eric has played over 200 shows in the past two years. Eric has opened shows for Jason Mraz, G. Love & Special Sauce, Martin Sexton, The Gin Blossoms, Tristan Prettyman, and Stephen Kellogg. Relying only on the power of the internet and venue sales, Eric has sold over 5,000 copies of his self-distributed live EP, "Before I Sold Out”.
Eric’s latest album, "Sounds Like This” is his first full-length album and it captures Eric growing into a complete artist. It is a diverse collection of acoustic soul songs that reflect a wide range of musical influences from Michael Jackson & Stevie Wonder to Ben Folds & Elvis Costello. Songs like “Rock & Roll” and “Food Chain” combine instantly accessible melodies with biting wordplay to create that familiar "Eric Hutchinson sound." The album was produced by Will Golden (Joe Purdy) and Paul Kolderie (Radiohead) and was mixed by Neal Pogue (Stevie Wonder, Outkast).

Excellent Purchase
author: MichaelI just recently got this CD and not that it is out of stock I realize how lucky I am. I agree with a previous poster, Eric is like a modern day Billy Joel. I am sure we will hear more of him in the future. This album was a steal!

I knew it!
author: AnthonyI have been following this guy for a few years now, and I must say, I knew this album was going to be amazing before even listening. He is an amazing soulful artist with a raw sound that you rarely find these days. My only beef with the album is that since receiving it, I have not been able to break away and listen to anything else!! I hope we don't have to wait too long for another release!! Thanks Eric!
Simply Amazing

Great CD!
author: CMCThis is a great album. My traffic-jammed commute is bearable, and even a little fun, now tht I can listen to these tunes. Even my dog likes to bug out to them. I look forward to seeing him live, but until then, this CD will continue to bring a smile to my face.
One of my best music purchases this year..
author: joannaEvery song has wedged a little spot in my heart. I found myself singing along while driving, working out, cleaning, etc. Finally had to google the lyrics so I can really get into it! Joy, joy, joy! This guy is just as good live too - a week after receiving his album I saw him perform in Philly's World Cafe and he brought the house down. Hope he'll be around for a while and CD Baby keeps selling his work. "Oh!" and "Rock & Roll" are my faves.
Brilliant

I stumbled into Eric Hutchinson's music quite accidentally...I purchased his ep on a whim and then got his live release shortly after. This album shows a wonderful progression from those previous releases. The songs I knew already, grew tremendously within the studio and the new tunes (to me) surprised me in their range of sound and style but mostly in the musicianship. I am a big fan and try to share his music with everyone I know. I see the Stevie Wonder connection now! Get this man back in the studio! Of course, after he brings his tour down South!

Great CD for any mood. I haven't taken it out of my player since I received it....LOVE IT!!!!
Good music makes a come back
author: DeeThis is a great CD filled with emotion and great sonic landscapes. I'm a professional musician myself, so I tend to be a major critic of most artists. I found the CD to really bring back good, fun, and uplifting music. One of my favorite tracks is "You Don't have to believe me" which brings back that 70's soul I thought young musicians were incapable of playing anymore. Great list of musician credits as well! Gary Novak, the drummer on most of this album is also on a few Chick Corea albums. Not sure what else do say, but this CD is the only album I felt worthy of buying in the last 6 months. The music is great for most of the CD, but just like most albums, the last few tracks slow it down and lose a bit of my interest. Over all a fantastic album, I'll be sure to buy his next album, which I guarantee will be on a major label... if Eric chooses to sign.

Love this CD and everything about Eric. Thanks!
Boundless fun...endless joy...
author: Rimas PutriusThis CD rocks! I wore mine out already in a week. Eric has a smooth, balanced sound that proportions out music in doses that never get stale. He mixes guitar, piano, background vocals and other various instruments in a way that complement and highlight each other, but don’t fight for the spotlight. I always love layered music that sounds like it is being played by 12 separate musicians simultaneously while at the same time doesn’t sound like it is being played by 12 different musicians simultaneously. Each track is wonderful, but some of his re-recorded music starts to sound a bit redundant, like he wanted to catch a specific sound, but hasn’t yet, trying anew each time and wearing himself out with each new reinterpretation. That is not to say that they are not still phenomenal tracks, just that if you are an old fan who has heard them before, they don’t sound fresh, just re-recorded. For you newbies…they are wickedly good. His new tracks are golden. “Food Chain” sticks in your head like a commercial jingle that you never want to leave, “OK is alright with me” is the kind of song you’ll suddenly find yourself singing as you wash dishes or brush your teeth and my personal favorite, “Back to where I was”…well…just listen to it. I love it and so will you. The bottom line is this is a wonderful CD full of sing-able melodies, hum-able tunes and music that never gets old, just gets better with each new listen as you discover some hidden instrument layered under another and find yourself saying: “Hey! That’s cool, I never noticed that sound before…” If you want an amazing album that’s a mix of funk/folk/rock and just generally good music, give Eric a try…you won’t be disappointed.
Thanks
author: Fuad JavadovVery good voice and songs!
