notes
Howling Trout is a four-piece rock-n-roll/blues band from Portland, Oregon. The band features guitar-driven tunes with lively, danceable beats. They recently completed their self-titled debut CD of 14 original songs.
Howling Trout's sound has evolved from the band member's collective experiences in garage rock bands, jazz/blues ensembles, folk trios, and other musical endeavors. Their original songs are fresh, with a foundation in melodic rock-n-roll and straight-ahead blues.
Their influences range from Beatles to Stones, Coltrane to Mulligan, Morphine to Everclear, John Lee Hooker to Sonny Boy Williamson.
The band's shows include a blend of their original music with a collection of some well-known and some not so well-known rock and blues tunes, all with the special Howling Trout treatment with a focus on great dance rhythms.
Formed in 1991, the band was originally known as "The Uncertainty Principle", and later as "Mixing Zone". The three founding members of the band (Hafele, Vigil, and Wood) changed the name to Howling Trout in 1996, and Hemphill joined them soon after to round out the quartet.

This is as BAD as it Gets!!!
author: darrellAfter 40 years of enjoying all the greats from Zappa to Johhn A and everything in between. I can honestly say this man is fantastic. He will kick your ASS!
Reminds me a bit of Quicksilver Messenger Service...
author: SneverClassic rock with a bluesy and slightly psychedelic flavor. Reminds me bit of Quicksilver Messenger Service (60's band out of San Francisco). A little bit rough around the edges (these guys still have day jobs, right?), but tasty nonetheless.
