notes
Founded by a Boston art-school dropout turned subway busker, and a physics PhD from MIT, this Texas band will never pass for conventional. Jangly power pop, blessedly free of any art-rock pretension, highlights catchy and well-crafted songs that bristle with humor. Highlights from their sophomore effort, "A Weekend on Earth", include "You Rule the World", "Quarks" and a hard-driving remake of Dylan's "Shelter from the Storm".
