notes
Kenny Howes writes songs, makes and produces records, and jumps and kicks on stage. He’s from the South, but now he’s in the West. He fully embraces his influences yet constantly redefines his own musical guidelines. He continues to carry the torch for traditional power-pop and rock-n-roll while eschewing the trappings of the form. Reverent, yes. Copycat? No!!!
He just wants to rock.
His former band Kenny Howes and the Yeah! (1998-2001) released their only group CD on Royal Fuzz in March 2002 under the title "Kenny Howes & the Yeah!" It was recorded by Athens producer David Barbe (late of Sugar and Mercyland.) In late 2002, Los Angeles label TallBoy Records decided to give wider release to the cd, and it was renamed "Until Dawn."
The Yeah! was formed by Kenny Howes, who had gained considerable attention as a solo artist. Kenny had released four solo CDs of original material, nothing wrong with that (1995), Kenny Howes' Second Album (1996), Back To You Today! (1998), and a best-of compilation The Right Idea (2000). In addition to writing, Kenny co-produced and performed on his solo records nearly single-handedly, overdubbing most of the instruments and all the voices himself.
Howes relocated to California in 2003.

I'm a YEAH! man.
author: Gary RitchieI came across this cd while browsing.. and I love it! Strong, poppy, gritty.. what more could you ask for in a Pop record! Well recorded too. Nice job!

Immediately catchy, snappy pop with jangly guitar work that takes a fistful of Beatles pop mixed with a touch of happy emo, Cheap Trick, and riproaring vocals, stuffs in a thread of 80's lyrical accessibility and whamo! Some darn good frisky pop with the drive, build and production that you expect from L.A.! If you're pining for a squeeze of sunshine, this is going to make your day.
Addicting...
author: EllaWow....that sums it up. Wow. I dare you not to love this album. It's like potato chips...you can't stop at one- you want to eat the whole damn bag... Good stuff. Really good stuff.
Awesome lyrics, amazing energy!
author: Jonathan DePrizioDefinitly a great choice if you like this kind of music. The recording quality is pretty good, the lyrics are fresh, and the energy is all there. It's definitly a no-filler disk, which I appreciate. And the hidden acoustic track is an added bonus ;) I'm definitly very happy with this CD. Keep up the great work, guys!

Hooky power pop that will live in your head!
author: Lindsay SmithThis is one of the best CD's I bought this year. Kenny is famous locally for his catchy power pop, and this is the best line-up of his band The Yeah! (IMHO). He gets a lot of crap for sounding like old-school Beatles, but take a listen to this CD, and you'll see that he's an original - a phenomenal guitar player, a great lyricist and, like his heroes, a master craftsman of hooky melodies that will live in your head for days.
