notes

Although his roots are in Bluegrass and southern harmony church singing, he has been an admirer of all 'heartfelt' music.

Wes has received much acclaim for his songwriting, being the 1995 & 1998 International Country Gospel Music Association 'Bluegrass Artist' recipient.

Wes has also been awarded the ICGMA 'Bluegrass Performer' Gold Cross award held at Mesquite, Texas on March 20, 1999.

His songs have been recorded by Doyle Lawson, The Lewis Family, Southern Rail, The Journeymen, The Bradleys, The Sitze Family and many more Bluegrass & Gospel artists.

The Sitze Family's recording of Wes's "Leading Me Home" had been #1 on the Bluegrass Now gospel charts for over a month in the year 2000.

He continues to perform and record new projects.

Wes is also an accomplished guitar player and respects the traditionalists which helped him develope his style.

There is no pretense here, and Wes does not like to be 'pigeonholed' into any one particular genre.

He feels just as comfortable doing an old hymn of the church as he does a high spirited bluegrass song.

Wes sings lead vocal & plays mandolin on this project.

He is accompanied by a host of his friends on background vocals and insrumentation.

Never heard of them...just happened to be looking for a song with the same name and this group came up. It was a completely different song than the 'Higher Ground' I was looking for, but really liked the blue grass gospel music!
