notes
According to Empedocles, a Greek philosopher, scientist and healer who lived in Sicily in the fifth century B.C., all matter is comprised of four "roots" or elements of earth, air, fire and water. In his Tetrasomia, or Doctrine of the Four Elements, Empedocles described these elements not only as physical manifestations or material substances, but also as spiritual essences.
TETRASOMIA
The story of Tetrasomia begins when Holmes Ives was commissioned by the San Francisco School of Circus Arts to compose the music for a full-scale acrobatic circus show. He was given total creative freedom, the only guideline being that the music must invoke movement. After five intense months in the studio, Ives emerged with this body of work, and knew that he had created the follow up to Satyriasis, his debut album. This is not your typical circus music by any means, the music stretches the gamut of styles from intelligent drum'nbass to trip-hop to ambient and the music evokes the inner elements of emotion. Persian artist Seroya contributed her elegant voice and writing talents to several of the album's compositions. Ives and Seroya have worked on other projects together, including Seroya's album Mystic Maah. The songs Eros and Mystic Roya have been remixed and released on Bedrock and Yoshitoshi Records, each of which has received critical acclaim from DJ's worldwide. Mystic Roya has also been featured on Bedrock's Layered Sounds compilation.

Must Have for Ambient/Drum and Base
author: Werner FragnerCD is perfect for driveing or working. It doesn't take ones concentration away from work as pop does, yet it sure works if you actually listen to it! For me this is the perfect CD, when I have to write a report at home at 11pm. Brings around just this kind of mood needed for it! Buy it!
I was in no doubt this album would be great
author: SteveI was in no doubt this album would be great and I was right. This is a none intrusive album and a great one at that. This is the sort of music which creates inspiration .It brings pleasure in the back ground or full on. I rest my case, buy it if you understand the above.
Don't cheat your ears by not having it !
author: Stephen SThis album is a must have. First caught my attention when I heard Kuanos-track 7, one of my favorites, on internet radio. Diverse sounds with good beats that don't overwhelm. I'm always looking for sounds like this. Surreal, ethereal qualities in music always catch my attention. This is a great example. I think this entire album is a work of art. Add it to your soundtrack of life. HIGHLY recommended.
I feel bad when I don't listen to the whole thing.
author: BrianHolmes Ives. Tetrasomia. Discovered by track #5 on Groove Salad. The universe heard me when I said I wanted something close to a combination between Delerium and LTJ Bukem. Cerebral, clinical, detached, smooth, nocturnal, restrained, exuberant, soothing, hypnotic, organic, laid-back/mellow, elegant, ominous, stylish, intimate, refined/mannered, reverent, ethereal, calm/peaceful, and eerie. That about covers it. I really wish the arrangements were about twice as long - but the melodies and spiffy beat work carry throughout the entire album. This is one of those CDs where I feel like Iâ''ve cheated if I only listen to one or two of the songs. The whole CD is a song in itself, and Iâ''d hate to miss any part of it. Nothing disappoints.
A wonderfully inspired work of art!
author: Jiggidy JivezI am prejudiced to the artist's work, due to blood ties(older brother:me),so I cannot write an unbiased review. However, if you love beautiful groovy electronic music buy this cd now! I listen to it while training accrobatics, but you can listen to it doing just about anything, and, uh, yeah, it's great for that too ;) Love ya, Holmie!
Good CD
author: SteveThis CD is a combination of ambient, new age and breakbeat. Holmes Ives blends them very nicely together. Some of the songs sound similar and some beats get repetitive. Also, some intros on the track seem to be a little long. You will be waiting over a minute before the beat comes in on some track. It is relaxing though. There's not many vocals contained on this CD, but the tracks that do have them are very soothing. Overall it is good CD. Nice job.
another great musical achievement from sir ives
author: Sean MThis album takes you on a moody, mental musical journey. Organic beats, beautiful female vocals and vocal samples. The tempo lifts you up and floats the listener gently back down to a peaceful landing. Splendid! I love this CD Baby!
Absoluetly amazing!
author: Tony BiggsThis cd is simply beautiful. It will appeal to people of all walks of life. I played it at a family function and had the entire room silent as they happily listened. (Even my grouchy old Uncle was grooving!)
Lie down and drift away
author: Peter MooreIf you want to lose all sense of time, put this CD on and drift away. Nice ambient and colourful electronica with the occasional beautiful female vocals will leave you refreshed and inspired. Highly recommended.
