Holly Reed's finger style guitar, rich vocals, and catchy melodies create a captivating sound. Songs included on "The Journey," were written using the travel journals of Benjamin J. Gunn, 1865-1939.
"The Journey" takes you back to 1886 when Ben Gunn, at age 21, left his home in Arcadia, Kansas, and traveled across the country to see the Pacific Ocean. His first impressions of Los Angeles and the "Mighty Ocean" are a part of his poetry and travel journals.
After taking that first journey out West, Ben Gunn fell in love with traveling. He went on to visit EVERY county in every state in the union. Before his death in 1939, Ben Gunn's accomplishment was documented in Ripley's Believe it or Not. The article included a sketch portrait of Ben Gunn drawn by Mr. Ripley.
While traveling through the South, he found the girl of his dreams, and wrote a poem called "Love." The song, "Storm" reflects his reaction to racial strife in the deep South in the late 1800s. Ben Gunn was editor & publisher of the newspaper in Arcadia, Kansas for about 40 years. "Cruel Power" & "Stop and Think" are from his published commentaries on social conscience.

A voice of the people
