Bob Hilke, Jr., originally from International Falls, Minnesota, started playing violin at age nine. While attending Iowa State University, he spent weekends fiddling at bluegrass festivals and contests. He has numerous trophies from fiddle contests in the Midwest and New England.
C.F. Sirmans, originally from Pearson, Georgia, began playing guitar as a teenager. He has played and recorded with numerous groups throughout his musical career. His interests and background include a variety of genres including country, blues and gospel.
Bob and C.F. have played together on numerous occasions since August 2001. The duo resides in Hartford County, Connecticut.
The music on Standards features a variety of fiddle and guitar instrumental styles largely selected from the traditional bluegrass and old-time repertoire with the artists' unique arrangements, several gospel songs, and an original composition for twin fiddle. Fiddle, Gospel, Bluegrass and Folk Music enthusiasts will enjoy the familiar down home country style tunes, and listeners of all ages, musical experience and backgrounds will enjoy the easy listening and catchy tunes their grandparents grew up singing and dancing to.
