notes
Hiding in Public is a pop rock project driven by songwriter David Holland that features the guitar playing and singing of Jamie Moses. Jamie is a legendary live and session player with a stellar list of achievements (Queen, Mike & The Mechanics, Brian May Band, Paul Young, Bob Geldof). And what about the music?
Warm, melodic songs are loaded with hooks, bends and subtle twists. The lyrics are thought provoking, intensified by the deep, soulful character of Jamie’s voice. The band’s performance weaves an unforgettable web around melodies that fasten into memory. With John Tonks on drums (Neneh Cherry, Paul Young, Duran Duran, Paul Oakenfold) and Kevin Porée (Berry Street Studio) on bass and keyboards, expect first class support and sound.
“Subtle twists in chord progressions and unexpected turns in melody are what excite me,” says David Holland. “We want to convey the craft and polish of classic pop rock songs into today’s music.
Reviews of "What Lies Ahead"
“Their sound is majestic and otherworldly … in the same vein as late career Eric Clapton, Hiding in Public manages to deliver a great tune after another great tune.” - Smother Magazine, Editor’s Pick
“This is good rock music and when you first hear it you like it. After the second or third spin, you love it! There are many catchy tunes on this CD. They see clearly the glamorous deceptions of modern life and confront them head on.” – MuzikReviews.com, Pick of the Week
“Caution: This CD is habit forming! When Jamie Moses’ extraordinary guitar playing is mixed in with the soul searching lyrics of David Holland you have a CD that will rapidly rise to the top! Look for this group to go big time.” – Steve Bingham, KRIM-FM
“Tracks like “Satellite” seem to be heavy in a tradition that includes acts like The Eagles and Bryan Adams … and it becomes catchier with each subsequent minute that the song runs. There is more than a small nod to Pink Floyd and The Beatles during “Things Will Never Be The Same”. They could be one of the premiere acts in what is a very difficult style to become successful in.” - NeuFutur

author: Smother MagazineWhat I like about Hiding in Public is that their sound is something so close to pedestrian but it still sounds majestic and otherworldly. Simplistic pop-rock that works in the same vein as late career Eric Clapton, Hiding in Public manages to deliver a great tune after another great tune. Strong and mature songwriting that will reinvigorate even the most stumped musician. - J-Sin

Jamie Moses voice is a fine mix of Tom Waits and Bruce Springsteen
author: Steve BinghamCaution. This CD is habit forming! Jamie Moses' voice is a fine mix of Tom Waits and Bruce Springsteen - not too much, not too little. When his extroadinary guitar playing is mixed in with the soul searching lyrics of David Holland you have a CD that will rapidly rise to the top! Listen carefully to "Satellite" or "Things Will Never be the Same". These lyrics are soulful and haunting. A strange attribute of these songs, and others on this CD, is they will grow on you. They are not simple songs, but take repeated play to gain their full significence. We have added the CD to our play list (KRIM-FM). Look for this group to go big time.
