SAVAGE FAMILY (savage from the root words salvaticus and salvage meaning "of the woods")/HGS (HIGHERGROUNDS OF STRUGGLE)is a collective movement of indigneous mc's/lyricists and producers along with the many who have helped to establish the concepts and beliefs that drive our music. SAVAGE FAMILY /HGS is spread throughout the United Snakes primarily based out of the Northwest and the Midwest regions.WE ARE THE PEOPLE. THE UNWANTED, THE IGNORED, THE MARGINALIZED AND FORGOTTEN. WE DO NOT ASSUME THAT ONE IS ANY BETTER THAN ANOTHER AND HAVE COME TO THE REALIZATION THAT AS LONG AS OUR COMMUNITIES ARE UNHEALTHY WE CANNOT CONSIDER OURSELVES TO BE HEALTHY INDIVIDUALS REGARDLESS OF WHAT WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ACHIEVE OR ACCOMPLISH. UNTIL ALL ARE FREE WE ARE ALL IMPRISONED AND WE HAVE COMMITTED OURSELVES TO LEAVE NO ONE BEHIND IN OUR STRUGGLE FOR TRUTH AND RECOGNITION OF OUR PURPOSE TO EXIST AS PEOPLE AND SPIRIT. The basis of the movement is to utilize traditional and contemporary wisdom of our indigenous peoples for the means of empowerment. The lyrics represent a voice of indigenous revolution for social change in communities that are plagued by the social ills created through colonization and genocide. SAVAGE FAMILY /HGS was not founded or established by one person or a particular group of people, instead the foundation of the SAVAGE FAMILY THEORIES OF (r)EVOLUTION movement is in our indigenous brothers and sisters worldwide and the ideologies that have driven our peoples since time immemorial. The movement has embraced the art of lyricism and spoken word to be a useful means of spreading messages of hope, pride, and empowerment into our communities. WARRIORS ARE BORN, SOLDIERS ARE MADE.     First track was a great opening to the rest of the album. It really brang one to a nuetral state of thought before all the revolution raps began. I would say all songs were decent in production and the raps were well done. Loved every song since it is primarily reaching out to Native communities in raping about issues and community problems affecting MODERN DAY Native peoples which is rarely done. An artist to relate them to by their style and revolutionary attitude would have to be Immortal Technique. Thanx Fam for your contribution and hope a second album is in the works. Oh, and Keep it Movement!

    The only music I’ve herd that Keeps the native mind aware of our current situation in our native soil that is colonized still by European rule from overseas not even white poverty class folks even know it but just in trench themselves in this European racial hierarchal society. This group Savage Family brings the native to the Truth.. Of the illusion created all around them to incarcerate our minds and life. This is happening right before us in wide open space and many of our people are awake with their eyes closed. This music make you aware of the world around you and this nations endless assault against Native people & has been presented in Savage family very accurate and to the point. Choose not to listen to them then you allow yourself to fall asleep and never wake up till it’s too late. Asked yourself this, what does this nation know about equality? Besides what mainstream media tells you? In order to evaluate this question you need two opions, the truth comes when you realize who haves & who haves nothing in society. Savage Family speaks for all native people trapped in the web of lies that surrounds us..this is the real The Mind Manipulators by Alan W. Salemson …be aware that knowledge in song and word is good for the soul ,the spirit & Savage Family Is Illuminating with strength and encouragement for the continuous struggle of a People still here but forgotten.
