notes
The Heelees, as in Webster’s: Laughing way too hard, for way too long… losing oxygen … you get “helium head”. Hence, the heelees.
Jamming, writing, playing and recording in Northwest Ohio. Usually gigging out as “Up For Grabs” and “Binge Crosby” around town and county.
We’ve recorded three albums now in our home studios. That is where The Heelees were born… laughing way too hard in the basement! The titles we’ve chosen have come from something someone in the studio said, that struck us as funny.
Our first album was “Three Heads Are Better Than One”, which was with a Jump Swing and Blues feel to it. The name came flying out of Jeff’s mouth one night, and we cracked. It was a cool set list.
The next album was “Kazillionaires”. That still had some Blues, but we worked in more of a Rock feel as well. Oddly enough, that album ends with this 11 minute jazzy kind of jam (Huron Jam (you’re on). This title came from Julie. She and Allison Jayn said they “rode through the Kazillionaires neighborhood on the way home”. We died laughing.
40 Weeks has pretty much come out of the same cast of players. Steve Mizer and Joe Ziegler are the emotional ones. Everyone else are transients. God Bless ‘em!
The album is nice right out of the gate, and maintains a cohesive run of songs throughout. Low tempo to big builds, with nice finishes. That’s the common theme of the set list. We think this is by far our best. Everyone who should know, has said the maturity of the songs is obvious, and the production is outstanding.

took way too long to record
author: Steve Mizernothing personal, but I think that Mizer guy is the real star of the band. He lives next door to me also, so I hear him playing the piano late at night. (God, I'm glad it's not the drummer that's my next-door neighbor! Have a great day :)
