  • It Grows on you - FAST!
    author: Kay

At first listening, it just wasn't clicking for me. Seemed a little too childish for a childless 45 year old adult to listen to. I mean, I love a rousing version of "Inchworm" just as much as the next guy, but.... When I listened to it again, I was hooked. I really DO want to Hula, Hula, Hula with You. And the song about the chicken who wants to fly to the moon isn't childish at all, it's hugely philosophical. AND they're from Nova Scotia. Cool. Very cool.

  • think of the pixies
    author: ugly buggle

pixie sticks are bad for yuo they have aspartame in them wich is a scorce of methane

  • Radio Alarm heroes.
    author: Daniel J.

I listen to this CD in my car. It's really really hard to get upset with other drivers when there's a super-pop band from Halifax singing about lick 'm stix on the car stereo. I heard "All that's left are waves" accidentally on my clock radio while setting the alarm one evening. It turned out to be the longest alarm setting session ever because I had to lie on my floor waiting for the deejay to tell me who had created this lovely music. I figure if music sounds good over a clock radio, it's got to be good. Also the songs are quite short. If you hate them they'll be over soon so don't worry...

  • Straight to the top of the CD pile.
    author: Bart Swindall

I was looking for something else when I stumbled across The Heavy Blinkers' self-titled CD, but after just one hearing it went straight to the top of the pile. Giddy vocals & glossy production make this a total standout from the rest. The heartbreakingly beautiful harmonies on Dressing Down are the equal of the best mid-6Os California Pop, and the squawky sax & slithery violins of Pennycandy on the Brain evoke a pefect setting for Ruth Minnikin's litany of after-school treats. The whole album is a beauty but the highlight has to be Instruments of Love which, with its intricately layered vocals and Herb Alpertesque brass-vibes-&-strings conclusion, has to be the shortest 2 minutes in pop music history. It leaves you wanting more, lots more. Why aren't these people rich & famous? Do yourself a favor: buy this now.

  • So sugary sweet my teeth hurt after listening to it.
    author: Sam Corbeil

WARNING: Listening to this CD can cause cavities. As a child your told no eat so many sweets cause it's bad for your teeth. Well this is the musical equivalant of a Pixie Stick. Each song so sweetly layerd with sugar coated goodness that it has to be bad for you. Easy Living could be the catchiest song I've ever heard. If this song doesn't bring a smile to your face you're either the Devil or Mr.Burns.

  • 60s-influenced light pop tempered by current pop undertones.
    author: Pamela Rooney

Do you like the Beach Boys, Beulah and Burt Bacharach? (enough Bs for you?) Well, then step up, because this CD was custom made for you. A very light-hearted and fun jaunt around the world of late 60s delicate pop music, it sways in and out of hula chic and snowbunny winks, while occasionally tapping the listener’s shoulder to bring their attention back to reality. A varied selection of vocals (both male and female with TONS of complimentary harmonies), super-DUPER intstrumentation (pianos, organs, vintage guitar tones, and the occasional trumpet interjection) and sweet-as-sugar songwriting all point to the inevitable; fans of 60s pop will, like, dig it.

  • Music That Strikes A Feel Good Nerve!
    author: Rockin' Ray Hudson/radio Personality

Every once in a while you'll run across an album like this one. Creative compositions and arrangements that strike a fell good nerve. The Heavy Blinkers album is just that. From full rich harmonies from tunes like Crowned Miss Fire Prevention, Instruments Of Love, to the fun in the sun sound of Easy Living, and Summer Won't Ask You Twice. If you love The Beach Boys and Beatles sound This is a must have album! With 21 cuts, no song sounds the same. With artist today, thats a refreshing change!

  • Beautifully done! Great songwriting, great voices
    author: Phil Thetremolo King

All the influences are clearly heard, esp. the Beach Boys, but still, this is agreat record. Beautifully written, recorded, produced, arranged, sung..Stlill, the question remains: what are these guys so damn HAPPY about?

  • picks up where "smile" left off, just beautiful!
    author: Lois

Flowing, melodic orch-pop. the likes of which I've not heard in many many years!

  • What is it about Canadian bands?
    author: Neil Gibbs

From start to finish this album abounds with gorgeous melodies and beautiful harmonies. In short a timeless record of class and style!
