notes

Hawaiian born, Midwestern adopted and raised, appropriately depicts the cross-cultural inception of what has blossomed into the infused extreme musical crossover appeal and artistry of Heather Lynne Horton.

Self-taught pianist, violinist, guitarist, mandolin player and vocalist-by the age of 4, Heather was performing works by ear off of the family Heathkit stereo. From Simon and Garfunkel to Mozart, her intrigue of perfect melodies, harmonies and storytelling surpassed what her adopted family were able to comprehend of exploit; merely from their living room. Heather has mastered what the industry salivates for-“the total package.”
Not just another great singer-songwriter and certainly not just another pretty face. “...Men want her and women want to be her. Her hair, face, body are absolutely wonderful and so much fun to watch! More importantly, her musical talent and perfectionism on stage are unmatched...(Horton’s) electric violin and sensual voice are out of this world!” (Karen J. Layers, Tangled Thoughts).

Self-proclaimed and accused “music-obsessed,” Heather has spent her life formulating an evolution of excellence-creating music to visually, lyrically and musically appeal to the broadest cross-section of demographics ever possible. There is no age, sex, social relevance or music preference that can strip focus from her stage.
“...I have seen, on many occasions, first time audience members drawn in, held captive and then released with the look of a gushing school kid running to their friends to proudly and excitedly report what they have just discovered...It’s infectious-contagious...” (Mike Le Baron, 101.9 The MIX FM/US99.5 FM, radio personality, Chicago, IL).

This year, Heather has completed her solo debut CD entitled, “Most Of All”. From her catalogue of over 50 songs, narrowing the CD to a modest 10 tracks was a frustrating task, as “playing favorites” is an impossibility with the amount of passion slathered within the depth of each work.
“...Heather possesses two characteristics in combination with her extraordinary performance talent, song writing skills and stage presence...uncompromising professionalism and loyalty to her craft...and a strong desire to succeed while developing her art and skills...”(Scott Levy, studio owner/producer/engineer).

Look for Heather Horton showcasing across the country, seeking the ideal match for her ever-growing star!
“...Find Horton!...one of Chicago’s brightest, up-and-coming stars...” (David Kupcinet, Chicago Sun Times).
“...To sum (Horton) up in a few words: intense, emotional, intoxicating, mesmerizing, innocent-yet-worldly. Simply put, Heather is an angel” (Joe Stephen, Standing Ovation Entertainment).

Heather Horton...A biography by Trish Cook (Author of “So Lyrical”)

A force as strong as Heather Horton is nearly impossible to pin down. Every time you think you’ve got her all figured her out, she morphs into something even more wondrous and amazing before your eyes.

She’s the tomboy who beat the crap out of her brothers’ bullies in grade school, the homecoming queen and the sexy siren who allures fans by the boatload these days with her distinctive and seductive sound.

She’s the vulnerable girl who pours her heart out in deeply confessional lyrics and the supremely confident woman who slips clever double entendres into her songs at every opportunity.

And she’s the elegant violin virtuoso who could have her pick of symphony orchestras if only she so chose and the ballsy rockin’ chick who blends the aching beauty of her electric violin with the incendiary guitar riffs, pumping bass lines and mesmerizing backbeat of her equally gifted bandmates.

No doubt, this Hawaiian born talent defies simple definition because there is clearly nothing simple or ordinary about her. Quite possibly the only thing set in stone about Heather Horton is this: She was born to be a star. “I came out of the womb singing and dancing,” she says. “I knew from the time I was five years old that this is what I wanted to do. I was born for it, and I’m ready for it.”

Even if Heather hadn’t been a natural performer, it would’ve been hard to miss the signs of her vast talent. At age 4, she sat down at the piano and played effortlessly by ear; by age 12, she’d mastered the violin; in college, she held the coveted seat of concert master; was crowned Miss Lacrosse, entered on a dare, to go on through the Miss America Pageant; landed her first attempted singing gig in Minneapolis’ prestigious 15 piece Remy’s Orchestra band (never having sang previously in public); and finally taught herself guitar within one year in order to showcase herself and her songs, independently throughout the nation.

While these accomplishments might have proven a career pinnacle for someone less driven, it all merely served as a springboard to propel to Ms. Horton to new heights in search of her true calling. And thank God for that. Because Heather’s just not the classic-violinist-beauty-queen-dainty-finger-sandwich-eating-look-down-her-nose-at-you type. She’s down-to-earth. Gutsy. In-your-face. And she simply oozes sexuality from every pore in her hot little body. Make no mistake about itâ€"everything about this girl freakin’ rocks.

As a singer-songwriter, Heather’s influences are a crazy-ass conglomeration of artists that range from the divine to the absurd. “I did my first book report ever on Reginald Dwight,” she says. “I truly wanted to be Elton John when I grew up.” In Heather’s world, the inspiration of Reginald/Elton is complemented by the talents of Prince, Mozart, Peter, Paul and Mary, Billy Joel, Itzhak Perlman, Chrissie Hynde, Bonnie Raitt...and KC and the Sunshine Band? Somehow, this all makes perfect sense once you hear Heather’s genre-defying sound.

Whether she’s singing about love, loss or longing, Heather Horton leaves an indelible mark on her listeners’ ears and hearts. “My music is real and raw,” she says. Just like life, the songs on her debut CD, Most Of All, run the gamut of emotions, from the sunny and sexy In and Out to the overwhelming yearning of You’re Not Fit for the Devil; the cynical yet still somehow hopeful Chicago She Goes to the undeniable love and wonder of Heaven Knows. The CD includes a gut-wrenching rendition of KC and the Sunshine Band’s Please Don’t Goâ€" classic Heather: Both astonishing and unexpected.

Since their recent inception, the Heather Horton Band has been captivating audiences with their magnetic live performance in clubs around their home base of Chicago as well as nationwide. While people may walk into a show unsuspecting and unconvinced of the talent that awaits them, they most definitely walk out converted. It’s simply impossible not to. The tight, driving sound of the band provides the perfect backdrop for Heather’s sultry vocals, endearingly naughty lyrics and ethereal violin. In fact, watching Heather and her violin make sweet music together is truly the ultimate voyeuristic experience; it’s so intimate, so sensual, you feel like you’re witnessing an extremely private moment. But then you realize Heather is on stage creating a powerful connection with each and every audience member while she plays, and it makes you feel glad to be alive and part of her world.

More fearless, talented and beautiful than ever, Heather Horton is poised to become music royalty. She leaves us no doubt that life is meant to be grabbed by the horns and taken for the best damn ride possible. “Tomorrow we are dust. I’m ready to do this right now,” she declares, and everyone who knows her knows it will undoubtedly happen. The only question is how soon.

I received this CD as a gift from two of my wonderful friends in Chicago who know Heather. It quickly became 1 of my favorite "things". So...I ordered 15 copies to give as Christmas gifts. They all love it too. I've made the journey from Wisconsin to Chicago to see her at the Underground Wonder Bar also. She is mesmerizing. (It was nice to see you again, Heather and thank you for singing Cinderella.)

Nice CD from this very beautiful and talented young woman. I catch her show at the Underground Wonder Bar in Chicago as often as I can. GREAT SHOW. The CD isn't very long but it's good. Besides that, it's fun to support a rising star. I think she'll hit the big time.

Previously, I'd only heard Heather Horton as a back-up singer and found her voice to be a perfect complement, subdued yet strong. This cd shows that her voice can shine in its own spotlight, giving listeners a range sweetly angelic highs and sultry lows, with song themes to match. Her second voice, her violin, stands out among superb arrangements. Great for a moody day when you want to curl up with some good music.

  • Fresh New Talent
author: E Smith: Rochester, New York

My wife and I discovered this fresh new talented musician by accident while on vacation in Chi Town at The Underground Wonder Bar! Except for the smoke filled room, this was a wonderful experience and a great surprise to see such great live music. We were anticipating jazz, and were pleasantly surprised with Heather's music. Heather and (Chris) Forte' on guitar are very talented musicians. Heather's violin blends very nicely with the rest of the band, it's not overpowering at all! Their performance prompted me to purchase this very satisfying album. Look out Sheryl Crow, HERE COMES HEATHER HORTON! Nice work Heather, keep on doing your thing girl!

  • You've got to see her live!!

Her cd is awesome (love the quiet desperation of A Million Tomorrows) and her live shows are THE BEST! She's an amazing talent and absolutely mesmerizing to watch and listen to.

  • original CD by sensualsounding singer/songwriter
    author: eric wenink

Originality nowadays has become very important and that is what MOST OF ALL certainly has. Most numbers are written by Heather Horton herself and are quite different from each other.Heather is with her sensual an dynamic voice best in slow ballads, but surely can rock !Her belectric violin is ever present but not dominant, and some numbers have a beautiful orchestration , like the old KC & the Sunshine band song: Please dont go, which for me is the winner. It is difficult to compare Heather with anybody but this is a very promising debut.

  • Here is the next big thing!
    author: trixie belle

Heather Horton's sound is uniquely her own, yet fits as comfortably as a well-worn t-shirt. Featuring heavenly violin parts juxtaposed against incendiary guitar riffs and the sweetest sounding melodies paired with naughty-yet-nice lyrics, ...Most of All grabs you full force from the first cut(the rootsy, insistent A Million Tomorrows), doesn't let you go until the last one (the passionate, poignant I'm Through, and leaves you wanting more. An amazing debut from an amazing new artist.

  • Brilliant first outing from extraordinary artist!
    author: Stian

Lovers of alternative rock/pop and even alt country will find plenty to be thrilled by on the extraordinary Heather Horton's solo debut. The combined effects of her stellar songwriting, gorgeous voice and exciting electric violin make ... most of all a real standout. Whether rocking out on Cinderella, curling up for the title track or sneering in your face on the highlight You're Not Fit For The Devil, there's always a coiled energy running through these songs, an energy that Horton lets blast free in all the right places, showing she's in total control of what she's doing, working perfectly with her talented band to make spine-shivering music to play loud and dream of hearing live. Another great aspect of this album is the storytelling. Just listen to Chicago She Goes, a great tale of dreams and music and love in The Windy City. There's not a weak song on this album. The only disappointment is that there are only ten of them. More, please?
