The Leavin, the debut album from Hazey Jane was co produced by Toss Panos and Karen Martin, and recorded at Tossimo's recording studio in North Hollywood. Bob Bradshaw has captured some intimate performances and collaborations, and also took care of mixing and mastering the album.
Hazey Jane was conceived in Los Angeles, inspired by the elusive muse of Nick Drake. Singer/songwriter Karen Martin has gathered up some of the finest musicians in Los Angeles to help create this acoustic guitar based album.
With dark, moody chords, and sparse instrumental arrangements, the album has a timeless quality presenting clear and vibrant lyrics floating over rich guitar sounds. Toss Panos' organic rhythms on the cajon, percussion and drumkit add deep dimensions to layer this rich musical experience.
Among the artists adding their musical expertise to the palette, Mike Landau (guitar), Jimmy Mahlis (oud, bouzouki), Albert Wing (saxophone), Dan Taba (acoustic bass) and Chris Roy (clectric bass) each lend their unique voice to various tracks throughout, adding colors and rhythms of their own to this collaboration.
Over the past six months, Hazey Jane has been heard in Starbuck's coffee shops around the world and has heen performing locally at the Roxy Theatre, the Baked Potato, Genghis Cohen, and the Hard Rock Cafe. They will be performing October 8, 9, and 10 at the Big Sur Jade Festival in Big Sur, California.
