Just announced that Sam will open for Grammy nominated Keith Urban on his Australian Tour Feb 05
his album has recently been featured heavily on Australian TV series neighbours
Rather than give you my opinion ('cause its my record and of course im going to say its great),here's what the president of CD Baby had to say:
I love your "On Any Other Day" CD so much I'm going to feature it on the FRONT PAGE of CD Baby for a few days.
We're REALLY picky about what goes on the front page. We get about 75 new albums a DAY coming in here now, (about 30,000 total), and yours is one of the best I've ever heard.
OUR REVIEW:
Sting meets John Mayer? Perhaps, perhaps. With the soft, buzzy and drifting vocals that seem to hang in midair mixed with a swirl of sound that has your ears searching for which strain of harmonic, melodic and rhythmic texture to follow and hold on to, one could be so bold. Laced with electronic threads that weave their way through tightly knit harmonic tapestries, and with colorful squirts of color that are dashed upon the images being stirred in your mind, this humble pocket of crystalline Pop is one you will find yourself escaping to more and more often.
Love ya!

Sam Hawksley - "On Any Other Day"
The front page headline in US music industry bible Billboard, January 2002 reads: "Industry Rediscovers Its Troubadour Traditions". The article is about the re-emergence of the singer-songwriter as a key force in music. After several years of "ultra-present, manufactured teen pop", there is an audience hungering for something more real, more substantial. The article talks about a new breed of exceptional artists like David Gray, Ron Sexsmith and Rufus Wainwright. Male singer songwriters have been in the wilderness, but they're coming back.
Sam Hawksley is from Sydney, Australia and he's going to be a part of all this. He's made an album of songs that catch your ear and your heart, that connect and make you feel. His voice sounds like a friend. When the album ends you want to put it on again, and read the lyrics.

It just doesn't get better than this...
author: Jenny BruceHe can do it all. Sing, play, write, produce; all with equal skill and grace. These recordings should be filling the airwaves internationally. Until then, they are filling mine! As a singer/songwriter I hear tons of music and listen to so many CDs. This album stands way out from the pack, distinguishing itself as an outstanding work in all respects. I love this record and can’t recommend it highly enough.
Awesome cd...
author: TaniaThis cd is one of quiet a few I have purchased in the past few months, and has become one of my faves. So much so I couldn't wait to get his next one, which is equally as good if not better! A great cd for anyone's collection. After seeing some songs performed live, and listening to them again on cd, they have a way of taking you to a certain place. I love it!

author: Natalie KingI bought this cd a week ago for my boyfriend's Christmas, i first heard Sam Hawksley's music on Neighbours and i loved Some Kind of Miracle! I live in Glasgow (Scotland) in the UK and so didn't think i would be able to find out any more about the music i was loving but then i found Cdbaby and then this amazing album and bought it straight away for my boyfriend who is also a guitarist in a band, he loved the clips i sent him, he will LOVE this album! Thanks!! Love Natalie. xx
A beautiful album
author: Jeremy GugenheimThis is an astonishingly good album. Very unassuming but with loads of depth. Some of the writing raises the hair on the back of my neck. While I agree that Some Kind of Miracle is really good, for me it takes second place to Little Trouble, which builds from a tiny, quiet beginning to... to, well something much bigger. Sam, please give us more, if just to save my CD player from getting bored! Five stars - an absolute beauty.
Great CD
author: KateThis CD has hardly been out of my CD player for the last fortnight. I first heard Some Kind of Miracle on Neighbours and bought the album on the strength of that. The gamble paid off. Other favourites: Dear Jane, The Strangest Feeling.
Pretty darn good, possums!!
author: HelenWell, I'm hearing the Sting-like sound, and liking it very much!! 'Some kind of miracle' will always be my favourite track for obvious Susom-related reasons, but there are sooo many other good tunes that I don't know where to begin! 'Don't come crying','dear jane' and 'always' are a few tear-jerkers to begin with..............sob...........
Very good
author: CeliaTo describe this CD, I'd say... Fabuloso! Loads of great tracks, and not a dud among them. Some Kind of Miracle would have to be a favourite, I'd say. Everyone should buy it! Now!

A superb CD. It was "Some kind of miracle", which is being used quite extensively on the Australian soap Neighbours (especially as regards Susom) recently, that caught my attention and made me purchase the CD. It is a very easy listening CD that is great for both the car and the home. Strong vocals and great music. Go buy it!

author: Benny Tetteh-LarteyThe songs I heard have instant apeal. The vocals are seductive and tight,(not sexually but hey you know what I mean!) the music is constantly exciting to the taste buds. I would like to see this guy live. Well done!

Sam Hawksley : On Any Other Day The Undercover Review Sam Hawksley is one of those artists in Australia who more often than not seems to fall through the cracks. The singer / songwriter is a rare breed in this country of late and that has more to do with an industry hell-bent on discovering the next Pop Idol rather than working to find real talent. Sam could very well be our David Gray. An album highlight is 'The Strangest Feeling', a haunting duet co-written and co-performed with Michelle Bradford-Jones, another Aussie talent the industry let fall through the cracks. Her vocal is chilling alongside Sam's evocative presentation. One of the most interesting of the performances on this record is left for last. "Lay It Down' was co-written by Sam with Jesse Harris, the guy who wrote most of Norah Jones most recent record. Generally Sam writes alone. 'Little Trouble' with Kevin Bennett is the only other collaboration. Once again it is a stripped back production focusing on the affection of Sam's voice and the beauty of the melody. There just isn't enough Sam Hawksley's in the industry right now but as overcrowded pop star rosters of the labels start to get a much needed rejection from market, Sam is well placed for longevity. The Best thing I've heard for years...
author: Charles PragueThe way sound is used to layer different textures is masterful. you never know quite what it is you are listening to... and the songs are so beautifully written and delivered. It doesn't get much better than this.
Very enjoyable. Music you want to listen to again and again!
author: JBA wide variety with strong vocal work. My favorite song would be the first track. Go for it Sam!
