With the release of her new CD/EP, Ruby Red, Philadelphia based singer/songwriter Christine Havrilla, ventures boldly in a new and more radio-friendly direction.

Under the able guidance of Producer Rick Slater, Christine teamed up with backup singer Gretchen Schultz, drummer Darren Keith, and bassist Bill Gallagher to create a collection of songs that clearly define her as a pop singer/songwriter at the peak of her form. As noted by the Princeton Packet, "Angst takes a left turn to upbeat and fun." Dean Sciarra from ItsAboutMusic.com described the personal connection when he said, "We get inside her head with each successive entry from her musical diary...And if she didn't possess that rare ability to make her songs so easily accessible, memorable and heartfelt, then you wouldn't come back for more. And you will come back for more."

Christine took the East Coast by storm with thousands of listeners at Musikfest, Philadelphia AIDS Walk, Penn State Arts Fest, and New York's Central Park and followed up these performances with appearances on CN8's "Your Morning" and NBC's 10!. Christine also performs sellout shows in venerable venues such as Philadelphia's The Point, Tin Angel, World Café Live! and has had well received performances in the crown jewel venue, the Kimmel Center. Making frequent stops at showcase clubs and major outdoor festivals, Christine has established herself throughout the East coast, Midwest, and South. Her material has meanwhile been gaining massive momentum online including web-based accomplishments such as:

* Featured Artist on Whole Wheat Radio, Alaska in February, 2005
* Her MP3.com-only CD, "Halo", shot to No. 1 on the folk/rock album chart
* She received MP3's 2001 Blockbuster Award for Favorite Female Rock Artist
* Seven songs, "Set Me Free", "Let Me," "Diamonds," "Four Leaf Clover," "Rest of Your Life", "Another River," and "In the End" have had multi-day stays at the No. 1 national singles slot at MP3.com, and she had an incredible seven songs in the top 40 at once.

The positive recognition for Christine's work doesn't stop online. She was a finalist for Philadelphia City Paper's 2002 Best Folk Artist/Group award, and received two grants in two consecutive years from The National Endowment for the Arts for its Meet the Composer series. She has opened for such acts as Jeffrey Gaines, Antigone Rising, Christopher Cross, Don McLean, Melissa Ferrick, Jill Sobule, Janis Ian, Karla Bonoff, Grey Eye Glances, Catie Curtis, David Wilcox, Sara Lee, Susan Werner, and Sally Taylor. She also composed and performed the music for the Johnny Cash Franklin Bible Session, a spoken word recording.

Self-taught and self-disciplined, Havrilla wins crowds over wherever she goes with her musical innovation, heartfelt lyrics, and sparkling personality...and her guitar a mere extension of herself.     Compared to Christine's previous albums, this cd is definitely at the top of the stack. The lyrics and music are exceptionally good. Keep up the good work!

    I was expecting more but it does deliver. The "Some Other Thing" cd was so exceptional and had such depth. This is truley more pop. I'm not as sold on the new direction but it is quality in the end.

    While Christine Havrilla is a great artist, I was a little disappointed in this album, I loved Whirlwind Life and Some Other Thing and was expecting work more along those lines. She's gone a little pop on this one, and it is a solid work but not quite what I was expecting.
