Here's a cd thats a blend of 60's to 90's sounds with a real today pop/rock sound as well as a bit of California Pop. Many of the tunes you will recognize but with a new twist. The guitar driven sounds is definitely reminiscent of the 70's and 80's.

The Havinga Band is an impressive musical family from Abbotsford, BC that consists of Rick Havinga, his wife Susan and their talented sons, guitarist Justin and drummer Josh. In the past few years, the Havingas have performed at numerous gigs in the Fraser Valley and beyond including Mountainfest in Merritt, British Columbia.
Their first cd "Knockin on Heaven's Door" has a music style that reflects more a California Pop with a guitar driven rock sound. You will definitely hear some 70's tones in the vocal as well as the guitar riffs. A family friendly "Knockin" Bob Dylan Cover with a bit of Guns and Roses twist.
Members of this talented band were nominated for three awards last year through the Canadian Association for Musical Empowerment and Opportunity (CAMEO). Though they are known for their solid performances of classic and modern rock cover tunes, the Havinga Band also managed to snag a nomination for Original Song of the Year.
What makes this band so different is the fact that they started at a very young age. At there early teens, the boys layed down tracks for their first recording experience and full cd production. The result was an 11 song cd called 'Knockin on Heaven's Door' consisting of covers and originals with their own trademark sound. This cd features some incredible vocal and instrumental works that would be considered by some as very seasoned accomplishments.
They are now working on their second cd release which should hopefully be for release late this year or beginning of next year. The Havinga's plans are to make this next cd mostly all originals. Expect also a solo cd project by the guitarist Justin Havinga who is making a name for himself on places like Youtube.
But while these cd's are in the works, they are presently getting air play in the UK, Italy and Canada with their first original 'Not Much Time'. CD sales and digital distribution are starting to pickup overseas and allowing the Havinga's to establish their name as an International Artist. Internet Radio has also taken an interest in their music in Canada and the United States.
I believe you will want to keep a close watch on the talent in this family as they continue to share their musical contributions. They are presently independent recording artists and unsigned.

This cd is wonderful. I really enjoy Not Much Time. This song is so hynotic that I play it again and again. Also "Knockin on Heaven's Door" and "Just Between and Me" are amazing feats musical accomplishment. The Guitar intro in "Last Kiss" is just amazing as well. All in all, this cd is definitely worth every penny and you will enjoy Rick's voice in these songs.
