notes
Hank Hooper grew up in the town named for his family of banjo farmers, "Hooperville". After spending his days plucking the high banjo stalks on the farm, he spent his evenings on the porch for his family's nightly hootenany. It was here he learned the instruments and musical styles of his people and their friendly animal and robot pals.
The music could be described as Dr Seuss, if he was from the irish part of the mississippi delta, playing guitars, banjos and singing at tofu fryup parties. In other words: music the kids, and the whole family can enjoy (and won't drive mom and dad nutz). YES, it's KIDS MUSIC, but you'll enjoy it to, especially if yer partial to TOM WAITS, BECK, THE CRAMPS, delta blues, motown, funk, klezmer, DEVO, hiphop and a general appreciation of all musical genres.
PLAYGROUND FORTUNE TELLER is not only a CD, but also a 16 page book (7.5" square) to read to the kids, which features many of the characters in the songs, such as Human Fly, Mola Mola, the Raptor, Robot Man and the Chicken (that seems to always disappear.)
Hank Hooper has been posting his PODCAST PARTY for about a year now, which is a free kids/family podcast that shows up about every month on his site and on iTunes. There are also free mini-movies and other goofy things of value at http://www.hankhooper.com.
