Uplifting Musical Document
author: Mark KeeganThis is a very interesting album which adds some new dimensions to the old school Funk blueprint. There's Bluesy Jazz on The Hill, echoes of Hendrix's Watchtower on the title track and gorgeous Isley-ish guitar work on She's My Lady. The standout cuts are the infectious, tropical flavoured La,La,La and Is Your Soul in Command? which features some killer organ hooks. With it's spiritually and socially conscious lyrics and inventive grooves this is an uplifting listening experience.
