notes

"Massive word-of-mouth and packed (actually, overpacked) shows -- have certainly paid off for this soulful quartet with their tentacles in ska, funk, and pop. Jordon Blackwell (vocals), David Nachtigall (guitar/vocals), Ben Stark (bass) and newest member Patrick Kelly (drums) have found that small island of confluence between the continents of college rock and party rock."
- Houston Press, Aug 4, 2005

Three-time Consecutive Winners of the Houston Press Music Awards "Best Pop-Rock Band" (2004-2006), The Handsomes’ live show is charismatic, packed with personality, and a magnet for the hundreds of fans attending their shows.

At their core, The Handsomes are a pop-rock band, but the members’ varied experiences in rock, reggae, and funk groups coalesce to form a sound that’s current and distinct.

The Handsomes released their self-titled CD in 2006, "The Handsomes", and were quickly featured on XM Radio XMU’s Radar Report playing songs off the new CD.

  • More Songs Please
    author: Amy

I loved the album, but I really would have loved more songs. I didn't realize the number of songs when I bought it, and it made me sad because I could have bought the songs individually from your MySpace page. That's okay though, because I love to support local bands. Great concert at the HPMA.

  • This CD rocks all the way though. Rosalie shines especially brightly.

Strong, catchy melodies and excellent song-structure dymanic--within and across tracks--is the strength of this top-notch album, keeping it interesting start to end. "Rosalie" and "Be With You" shine the brightest for me; in these songs I feel the the Handsomes coming into their own. Fresh is good. Keep it up, guys.
