Brian Hand is a longtime performer, teacher, multi-instrumentalist and composer of a wide variety of percussion based music. He was formerly with Babatunde Olatunji's Drums of Passion, and the legendary dancer/teacher Anna Halprin. His release of "Global Warming" with long time Frank Zappa vibraphonist/percussionist Ed Mann received international acclaim. He devotes much time playing at the bedside of terminally ill Hospice patients.
Brian's improvisational compositions express his love of all music, especially jazz, African, and sacred. He leads and follows himself, weaving the sounds of a wide array of instruments from around the world into music that defies strict classification or category. Each musical expression is at once an expression and discovery.
