notes

Singer songwriter Nathan Hamilton's self-produced debut release TUSCOLA, is a rich Texas country, folk and rock hybrid.

It paints a picture of travels through panhandle dust storms, roadside bars, farms, bedrooms, small country churches and the imagination of a child.

The songs vividly reveal passionate, dangerous, endearing and broken-hearted characters.

Tom Geddie of Buddy Magazine writes,"TUSCOLA is one of those near perfect Americana gems we stumble across in the dirt, not knowing what we've tripped over until we pick it up and wipe it clean.

We notice a glimmer, hold it up to the light for a better look and suddenly find ourselves blinded by its many facets." With this collection of stories in song, Nathan stands ready to take his place in the lineage of Texas songwriters.

"Tuscola is a return to country music's good side, one devoid of spangles and bangles, corporate sponsored tours and bad TNN line dancing videos.

Hamilton spins vivid tales of rural life both uplifting and tragic." - Sarah Meadows The Santa Fe Reporter "This is an amazing cd.

It's a combination of outstanding lyrics and original music.

If you're bored of the usual Nashville fare, you really need to listen to this one.

It's definitely refreshing, a monument to real talent." - Greg Roberts Country Line Magazine

  • You've come a long way Baby Boy Hamilton

Since I've known Nathan when he was in a kid's choir in Abilene and sometimes he would jump up and lead the choir when he was 4 years old, I am very impressed with the quality and content of the songs I have heard and the voice that sings them. I will buy this album and reccommend it to my friends. It's real home-grown music.

  • Sound is good. Smooth, soothing, enjoyable listening.

Good sound, smooth, pleasing, soothing, with thought and humor. Enjoy the whole cd very much. As a Tuscolan, was amused at the words but like the description of the area around the Tuscola sign. Also like the way Nathan says or sings Tus-col-a, drawn out more than the locals say T'scola.

  • Good energy. Some very good music. Love the Music.,

  • So original and country!

There's happy songs and mellow songs, but all of them are so good! Hamilton and No Deal improve with every CD they put out. This is just feel-good music!

  • A Great Album by a great Storyteller!
    author: Jack Gubanc

Nathan Hamilton's music is steeped in the folksinger's tradition of telling a story with each of his songs. He obviously has listened to the other great storytellers such as Hank Williams, Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark and Johnny Cash. There is a Johnny Cash sound to his voice, but Nathan is his own man in creating his music and lyrics. If you are a fan of the previously mentioned artists or the other great Texas/country troubadors of past and present, then buy this album and you will not be disappointed.
