'I suspect that I will not hear as satisfying a collection of guitar music this year as "Far and Wide".'

'"Far and Wide" has a capivating sound from the start. [It] builds on tradition but ventures into its own territory. It's a route the listener will appreciate.'

'... the compositions - all originals - are uniformly well constructed: I was sure some of them were standards, not because they were derivative but because they sounded timeless...

COMMENTS FROM A.H.-
The album is a mix of band and solo tracks. Of the band cuts, some are swing–type tunes modeled on jazz standards, while others, like “Persis the Beloved”, venture somewhat outside the mainstream.
With the solo guitar pieces, I had in mind recordings by (amongst others) Joe Pass, Barney Kessel and Kenny Burrell (the acoustic cuts on 'Lotus Blossom'). But I was also moved early on by the solo records of musicians like Steve Howe, which run the gamut of musical styles – from ragtime to rock and classical – and a rare solo record by the English guitarist, Anthony Philips. I hope this gives some idea of my music and that you'll enjoy having this CD in your collection!
Thanks for reading and listening,
