notes
It all began with a phone call. I started meowing in the middle of "Wild Rover". Then I wrote my first cat song. Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers was born. The CD was wildly popular. Before I knew it I had people asking when I would release my next Cat CD. Sure, I had a few songs already written, but not enough for a second CD. I spent the next two years writing some songs and asking fans of the first album to submit some lyrics. The results are now here!
The album features twelve songs and two sets of Irish tunes. The songs are a mix of Irish and Scottish songs rewritten about cats. You'll hear songs about cats eating catnip, waking you up in the middle of the night, staring off into nothingness. You'll laugh as cats take over a dairy farm, splashing milk all over the place or a nice feline friendly twist to the Sylvester and Tweety Bird cartoon. Cats fight off canine pack recruitment and Harry Potter makes an appearance as does cat cloning. No really! It's twisted, but amazing fun.
The CD was produced by Celtic music lover, Rich Brotherton, and it shows. Whiskers in the Jar is an album of purrlicious fun for cat lovers everywhere.

Whiskers in the Jar
author: Barbara D. MarshI nearly fell off my chair laughing when I heard the first song "What Shall We Do With a Catnipped Kitty" especially since I was a sailor for 23 years. And I kept on laughing with all parodies and cute songs. I have Marc's previous 2 "kitty" albums and have bought copies for my relatives. This Christmas they're getting "Whiskers in the Jar" to continue the collection. I hope Marc keeps on writing such witty music!

Whiskers in the Jar
author: Margaret MantoothI loved it. I still like the first cat cd better, but only barely. Catnip Kitty is the greatest! My five year old son makes me dance with him everytime it comes on. I am so excited to have found Marc Gunn and his wonderful cat songs. (I like his other stuff too, but I never would have found him without his Cat Lover cd).
Amazing!
author: JillianJust amazing, great music, clever lyrics, a must own for cat enthusiasts!!!

A Must for any cat/music lover
author: Diana GrecoMarc Gunn did a fantastic job with this CD. The songs are addictive and once you listen to it you can't stop. It is not only for cat lovers but for anyone who enjoys listening to great music. If you have listened to "Irish Drinking Songs For Cat Lovers" and liked what you heard you will really love this one. I still can not get "What Shall We Do with a Catnipped Kitty" out of my head. Now when I hear the original songs all that comes to mind is the "Cat" version. Great Job Marc.

I loved Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers, but this is even better. If you love cats and celtic music, this is the CD for you. For those who don't like celtic music, but love cats it is a good introduction to get into this great music. Those who don't like cats ... if this album won't change their minds on this magnificant creatures, nothing will. The music is great, but for all those who only like to download: the album art work is also fantastic and worth buying the disc. I really am short of words for reviewing this CD and for me being out of words, says enough.
A Celtic cat-lover's dream
author: Lynn McKinneyOn this album, Marc Gunn surpasses all his prior CDs with fine production values, richly layered instrumentation, and versatile vocal performance. The songs are varied and clever, and the lyrics are well-turned and inventive. If you liked Marc's first cat album, "Irish Drinking Songs For Cat Lovers," this item is a must-own. It's great for cat lovers of all ages, filk music fans, Celtic music fans, and comedy music fans, too. You can enjoy it as a new spin on old favorite tunes, or use the album as a gateway to appreciating a whole new kind of music!
