notes

Greg Serrato - Live At The Coach House is the latest release from this blues rock guitarist. This cd is already being hailed as one the best live guitar cds ever. The reviews are coming in and they are stellar folks. The sound quality is excellent and the performance is top notch. This cd features Alan Cater on Drums and Phil Fistori on Bass. The cd contains 14 songs and promises to be everything you would hope for in a guitar oriented cd. Check out Greg's version of All Along The Watch Tower, the super dual with guest guitarist Robb Howell on Voodoo Child (Slight Return) and Greg's monster finger work on his very own Holy Smokes. Special guest appearances by guitarists Anthony Villaran and Robb Howell add power to the performance.

Greg Serrato, referred by some as "The Tornado", is a Native American (Apache) high-powered blues guitarist, vocalist and songwriter who takes command of the stage with his ferocious fret work and hard driving sounds. Hailing from southern California, he is regarded by www.Bluesrockers.ws as one of the most talented blues-rock guitarists in the world today. He has become a force to be reckoned with and has generated a strong fan base in and around the United States. Serrato has recorded nine CDs to date. Three of which were nationally distributed by the Navarre Corporation.

When asked to describe his style of blues, he states, "I would say it is Southwestern Blues." A mixture of stinging southern California Fender guitar, A bit of Apache Indian, the hot rays of the Sun beating down on a rattle snake crawling across the desert sand and seasoned with the fire of a New Mexico Chili Pepper. Add that to his early influences like Freddie King, Alvin Lee, and Jimi Hendrix, and the result is some serious blues with a kick!

Greg began playing the guitar at the age of five and by the age of eleven was performing in his first band. Since then, he has shared Blues Festival and Concert/Club stages with such notables as Double Trouble, Ray Charles, Jeff Healey, Albert Collins, Rod Piazza, Colin James, Savoy Brown, Sonny Rhodes, Gregg Allman, Leon Russell, Anson Funderburg, Pinetop Perkins, Johnnie Johnson, Rik Emmett, Lowell Fulson, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Tommy Castro, Elvin Bishop, John Mayall, Duke Robillard, El Chicano, The Premiers, Etta James, Jimmie Vaughan, Keb Mo, Robin Trower, Levon Helm, Wishbone Ash and many more.

His third CD on J-Bird Records "Like A Tornado," (featuring Phil Fistori on bass & Alan Cater on drums) was nominated for Best Blues Recording by the Native American Music Awards. Venues and Festivals Serrato has performed & headlined include; The Grand Ol' Opry in Nashville, TN., The Chicago Blues Festival, The Long Beach Blues Festival, BB King's Blues Clubs, The House Of Blues, BluesFest International in Ontario Canada, The King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena Arkansas, The Pikes Peak Blues Festival in Colorado Springs, CO., The Julian Blues Bash in San Diego California, The Modesto State Theater in California, The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, CA. , Bottom Of The Hill in San Francisco, The Monterey Strawberry Festival, The Rosebowl in Pasadena, CA., Bourbon Street Blues in Nashville, TN., The Inland Empire BluesFest in Riverside, CA., The Pomona Blues Festival in Pomona, CA., The Native American Blues Festival in San Jacinto, CA., and The Modesto Blues Festival in Modesto, CA. to name a few.....

Greg's music is also featured on six Klopf Productions Films. These are internationally distributed surf films. His music has been heard on KCAL9; a Los Angeles based Television News Station. Greg also appeared on the "Cooking With Lenny" blues cooking television show in 1996. Greg recently won the Ravenhawk Productions "Silver Arrow Award" for outstanding achievement in Music by a Native American.

Greg received National radio attention with Child Of The Blues, Holy Smokes and Like A Tornado as well as in Croatia, Germany, Japan, Italy, Greece, The Netherlands, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, England, France, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, and other parts of the world.

With Phil Fistori and Alan Cater bringing on the power in the rhythm section, the band supplies a big sound.

As one New York reviewer wrote, "People we have got to get this guy to town to see if he's for real!"
We guarantee Serrato is as real and talented as they come!

Greg this is an awesome cd. Being a true fan of Power Blues I was not disappointed, quite the opposite. Coming from the UK I was browsing through CD Baby looking for something different, came across your CD and took a chance. Every musician is great and playing tightly together. Some wonderful reditions of the greats too. Love having it in my collection.

    author: Barry Johnson

Greg, your cd is incredible! No lie brother! Thank you for making this cd and thank you for inspiring me. Your chops are some of the best I've ever heard. You make listening to music exciting again and where ever did you come up with some of this stuff? Holy Smokes is beyond description and All Along The Watch Tower is as though Jimi's spirit is in you. Nobody plays this song better than you! Hideaway is so cool and Child Of the Blues should be on the radio as a hit. Voodoo Child with Robb Howell is one of the best versions ever recorded. Thank you for sharing your god given talent with the masses. Your rhythm section is hot and they compliment your playing very well. I highly recommend this cd, it's going to be a classic!

  • A Guitar Players Perfect Hour. The Cd starts off with a great rock and roll song
    author: Dale Walker

Having seen the Greg Serrato Band Several times when he has played South Western Ontario I could hardly wait for the new Live album. When it finally came I was not disappointed. If you have never heard the Greg Serrato Band don't go in thinking your going to hear some acoustic delta blues player. You are about to hear a guitar player in the style of Stevie Ray Vaughan but someone that has his own style. He turns in his cover of Jimi Hendrix's All along the Watch Tower and you would swear that Jimi was sitting in with him.His understanding of the Blues really shows with the lyrics of Child of the Blues .You Will Enjoy This One.

  • Blues the way I like them
    author: Bill Anderson - California

I LOVE this cd. I saw this show and Greg was second to none that night. I love the tone of his guitar and the sound is fantastic. The highlites to me are Phil Billy Stomp, Hideaway, great version of Life By The Drop, Your Guilty Conscience and everything else after that. Greg can play anything and do it better than anyone I've heard or seen in a long time. It's refreshing to hear a player with a style and licks all his own. Awesome CD Greg....AWESOME!

  • A great and exciting cd!!!
    author: Danny Robles

This cd had me listening very carefully and the players are incredible. The whole cd from start to finish is excellent. His guitar playing on Holy Smokes, Locomotive Strat, Voodoo Child, Hideaway, and Your Guilty Conscience are ripping! A lot blues guitar players today are called the Real Deal and compared to the likes of SRV, Hendrix or one of the great. This cat is up there with the SRVs and Jimi's and shouldn't be compared to any of them. Seriously!

  • BEST Guitar album of the decade
author: Robb Howell / Peace Machine

I HAVE to say, and being as seriously UNbiased as possible and excluding myself in connection with this album (so graciously invited by Greg btw) , Greg Serrato's "Live At The Coachhouse" is BY FAR the BEST guitar album I have heard in 10 years - no lie. Greg is, I mean REALLY, really on par as a player with SRV, Hendrix, Trower, Roy Buchannan - all of those greats. He truly is "great", and a huge inspiration to me, and as much as any other blues giant, SHOULD be acknowledged that way. It is more than anything my honor to call him my friend, and from guitarist to guitarist: I'll play with you anywhere brother. My hat is off...
