notes
Edward Grigassy is a solo classical guitar performer based in Houston, Texas. After earning a B.A. in Classical Guitar (1996 UT Austin) under Adam Holzman, Mr. Grigassy then received a Master's Degree (1998 New England Conservatory in Boston), under the tutelage of world-renown guitar virtuoso Eliot Fisk. While at the New England Conservatory he studied jazz guitar with Gene Bertoncini, the leading English-speaking expert on Brazilian Bossa Nova.
Mr. Grigassy has traveled extensively in Central and South America and has absorbed various Latin American styles of guitar playing, including Huapango, Bolero, Pasillo, Bambuco, Joropo, Vals, Argentine Tango, Bossa Nova, and Samba. Mr. Grigassy currently leads a Latin American ensemble, called Latin Carnaval, and an early jazz group called the Hot Club of Houston. He has recorded and released two solo CDs, most recently producing Old and New Worlds (in 2002).
His debut solo guitar CD Iberian Influences was released in 2001:
"Spanish and Latin American music for the guitar delivered with impressive technique, tempered by an inviting, polished eagerness... [This recording] presents Edward Grigassy as a player of broad stylistic range and encourages us to eagerly await his next effort."
-- Miles Willis, Host of "Milestones," KPFT 90.1 FM, Houston, Texas.

Perfect Study Music!
author: Patrick DentlerI started listening to Iberian Influences during my freshman year in college. I was strictly a Beethoven or Mozart guy when it came to ambiance, until I discovered Edward Grigassy's music. The music seems to flutter around the room, entering senses with an overwhelming feeling of mellow. Beyond the peaceful surface, you can really sense Edward's virtuosity through the range of songs and the technicality of each one. Needless to say, I highly recommend.
