An excited bride was trying to describe a song she wanted for her bridesmaids, “I heard it at my friend’s wedding…it is very popular…someone said the composer was Paco Bell.”

The song in question was actually Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel. Confusion about traditional wedding music is very common. WeddingMusic101.com, developed by Greg Thompson Music, is a website where couples can quickly audition music for their wedding ceremony. WeddingMusic101.com identifies a music selection, relates it to the title, composer (with correct spelling), and placement in a ceremony. Suggestions are made for attendant and bridal processionals, as well as music during the service and recessionals.

With over one million downloads since 2006, and an average of over 12,000 visitors from all over the world each month, Wedding Music 101 has been a very successful little website!

MP3s at the site are thirty-second demos. This new Wedding Music 101 CD includes re-mastered versions of the full-length arrangements we use for wedding ceremonies. The recordings are from a variety of churches in the Chicago Metro area, where Greg Thompson Music is located. These highly skilled musicians have performed for over nine hundred weddings at more than three hundred churches. Our main group is flute, violin and cello. Frequently, we add a trumpet to this group and at times, multiple trumpets, viola and organ.

    I knew what songs I wanted and this CD had all of them. I am in charge of finding the right songs and playing them at the right time at my very good friend's wedding in August 2007. I was so excited when I found this CD. We listened to it together after it came in the mail and she loved it as well. We will use it for background music while people are being seated and during the cake cutting. She has also picked three songs to use in the actual ceremony. We love it!!!
