notes
Blues review German guitarist and songwriter Gregor Hilden is back with yet another masterpiece blending his uncompromising mix of blues and jazz inclinations. Playing with his 1959 Les Paul, Hilden brings to fore jazz-laden phrasing, concise and economical noting, and a need for classical renderings within the blues. One of the most beautifully sounding guitarists around, Hilden also has dynamite support from a high quality team of German and American musicians. Sounding like seasoned accomplices, Hilden and crew lay out some tight ass music on this biscuit. Instead, you'll discover in Hilden, a seemingly trained guitarist in love with jazz and doing the blues. Pure and powerful with every note wrung for its own weighty and artistic worth. Instrumentals with super backing, wonderful jazz inflections, and a brooding blues fever, Gregor Hilden puts out a strong set of jazzed-fused blues to wet your appetite. When it's done, I'll bet you shake your head and play it over! This young lion has created a sensation with the European Jazz and Blues fans. "The guitar work of Germany’s Gregor Hilden is phenomenally calculated and measured. ...The axe work of Mr. Hilden is indeed a pleasure to take in, unadulterated blues with masterful executions. ...These are brilliant compositions and arrangements...”

Tone and Taste
author: Neal WinslowAnother terrific album. All blues this time, played on a '59 LP Goltop through an original '65 Deluxe Reverb. Great tone and taste. The kind of CDs you can put in your car CD player and not worry about listening to more than once
Zowie!
author: NealGregor Hilden channels Peter Green for 57 straight minutes on Golden Voice Blues! As one review I ran across put it, Hilden takes his time. This isn't flash and thrash or rock'n'roll masquerading as blues; it's pure blues. The industrial strength, not for your kid brother kind. Like our other reviewers, the CD caught my eye, I listened to a few samples, and took a chance. In fact, I took 3 chances and will come back for 4 and 5. And I'm going to visit Gregor's website for pointers on where to find even more. If you're a fan of contemporary blues, a fan of tasty guitar work, or just a fan of anything that's done really well, then I would highly recommend Golden Voice Blues.
Instrumental contemporary guitar blues at its best
author: Peter JohnstonI completely agree with the previous reviewer. I stumbled upon this recording while checking out another artist on CD Baby's site. I saw a link recommending Gregory Hilden so I checked him out. I'm glad I did. I listened to the samples and ordered the disc. Simple as that. It hasn't left my player since it arrived. If you like solid guitar blues, you won't be disappointed. His distinct sound and feel make this a hidden gem I didn't expect to find. Great work, Greg!
very tasty instrumental guitar
author: chris christensonI had no idea who Gregor Hilden was. I listened to the samples and ordered the disc. I am more than satisfied with the CD. If you are a fan of "tasty" blues guitar than this is your CD. No shredders or classic rock guitarists who pretend to be bluesmen here. Gregor plays straight tube driven, tone soaked, electric blues. This reminds of early BB with a dose of Robben Ford thrown in for good measure. buy it, spin it, enjoy it.
