notes
Singer/songwriter Tami Gosnell, formerly of the bands Disco Goddess and The Meek, is a new Boulder County resident and wants to play in a venue near you! Now there are 3 ways to enjoy her 'melodically aggressive acoustic-based rock'. You can see her with improv-multimedia-PinkFloydish band Outside the Door, the Tami Gosnell Band which includes acoustics, keyboards, and electric guitars playing originals by Tami, and in more intimate settings she can be seen solo, playing originals and covers from her favorite bands. She has penned and performs close to 100 songs full of thought-provoking lyrics and emotion-provoking riffs and melodies. Her new cd will be available in March, and can be purchased straight from her website, www.tamigosnell.com. Tami won a place at the upcoming Colorado Grassroots Festival at Red Rocks in the summer of 2006, and was crowned champeen in the "I Wanna Play the Fox Open Mic Challenge" at Conor Oneil's in Boulder. Vince Darcangelo from the Boulder Weekly said "Though the wet dream of a Janis Joplin/Ani Difranco double bill will remain fantasy, Tami Gosnell gives a hint of what this would be like in one soulful, dynamite performance." She has shared the stage with such acts as Tony Furtado, Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon, The Samples, and Donna the Buffalo. Tami also appears on a CD with Vince Herman. She exudes inhuman amounts of energy and passion when she is onstage and the audience is left begging to know what she will do next. The impression that she makes doesn't fade when the music is over, and every stage she graces means new friends and new fans.

author: Boulder Weekly- Vince DarcangeloTami Gosnell possesses the strongest pipes in Colorado, a sultry rasp worthy of an autumn breeze in a rocky meadow. The words don't so much come from her mouth as they seep from her entire body, producing a brand of full-contact folk that belongs as much to the genre of soul—in spirit if not entirely in sound. But Gosnell is more than just a powerful voice. She's also a gifted guitarist and performer, not to mention songwriter. The combination of talent, performance and stage presence earned her an opening gig last year at the Fox Theatre when she won the first-ever I'm Playing the Fox Open Mic Competition at Conor O'Neills. One of the winning numbers from that competition was "Very Free Now," which appears on Star Satellite. It's an upbeat folk-rocker in the vein of early Melissa Etheridge that showcases Gosnell at her most intense. Other standout tracks include "Abilene," the moving "New Town Fairy" and the surprisingly poppy "Everybody Run." "Horse of Course" is another popular tune that works well as a solo acoustic number live and a full-band stomp on record. Star Satellite closes with the piano ballad "Earthshaking Goodbye," but Gosnell is at top of her game on the bluesy "Where's Your Fire," a distortion-laden rocker in which Gosnell's voice is complemented by equally smokin' guitar work. With Star Satellite, Gosnell has emerged as one of the area's most talented performers, bringing her a step closer to where she should be—headlining the Fox, not opening.
