What is it?
Germinate is a blend of Progressive, Fusion and Instrumental Rock with a mean rhythm. Never intentionally reaching for "funkiness," Goocher manages nonetheless. If you enjoy innovative, progressive instrumental rock, Goocher/Germinate may be just the ticket for you. From sweeping, angular "Skeet Shoot"... to gritty, groovy "Huh!", Germinate will capture and hold your attention from start to finish.

GOOCHER is the name of the instrumental guitar project of Lance E. Zechinato. This album ("Germinate") contains songs from 1997 to [2000]. This is not another metal/rock-guitar instrumental album. The influences on this album are very varied and reach from funk, groovin' artrock to fusion rock. All songs create a unique and varied atmosphere ... so it is very hard to mention a specific song for this review. But New - Early Arrival is a real monster: spacerock meets organ rock, drum'n'bass meets rock, PORCUPINE TREE meets MAYFAIR. You need 4 songs to get used to this album but after these 4 tracks you are stuck within a highly passionate album.

    This album CRANKS!!! Everything any self-respecting progrock fan loves is on this CD! From the opener 'Oblique Left' to the uplifting closer 'Skeet Shoot', you are treated to some of the BEST musicianship you'll ever hear. Goocher is a MASTER at the art of groove, while weaving intricate progressive movements throughout this CD. His guitar playing is nothing short of brilliant...reminding me of Eric Johnson, Alex Lifeson, Jimi Hendrix, and Steve Morse rolled into one powerful, mind boggling delivery! His music is very unique, yet it manages to have a familiar quality about it, giving it immediate appeal as well as longevity. (something I greatly admire) I always hear something new and exciting that I missed before. This CD NEVER gets old. And, Goocher writes some of the longest, coolest progressing passages I've ever heard! It twists, it turns, it inspires! 'Germinate' is an adventure in listening pleasure...and the production is top-notch! You won't be dissapointed folks!
