"Arthur Godfrey is a deeply moving storyteller with a vocal
grace and an acute heart." ---SEAN PENN, ACTOR/DIRECTOR
"the entire record ia all sweat, sex and meanness...and it's irresistible." ---PERFORMING SONGWRITER MAGAZINE
"a mix of Folk and Blues from a passionate soul...this is the stuff that a generation brought up on Bruce Springsteen can tune into today... could be the next great undiscovered singer/songwriter"...SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS
Two songs from Arthur's Americana/Folk Debut...EAST SIDE OF TOWN..."Simple Man" and "Danielle", Won the Grand Prize in the 2001 JOHN LENNON Song Contest Folk Category, and the 10th Annual BILLBOARD International Songwriting Contest
Country/Folk Category, respectively. In addition, Godfrey signed a publishing contract with EMI Music and he is
featured in the 2002 March/April issue of Performing Songwriter Magazine as ASCAP's Spotlight Artist.
Godfrey's "EAST SIDE OF TOWN" CD showcases his gruff, warm voice and 'Springsteenian' songwriting. He is an Americana performer with a hard urban twist engrained in his music. Arthur's songs about city streets, smoky juke joints, broken hearts and torn souls paint a picture so vivid one can just open the door, step inside and get as close as they dare. The album features stellar musicians including, harmonica wiz Norton Buffalo (The Steve Miller Band) and formed Doobie Brothers' keyboardist Dale Ockerman.
"His songs cut through the Americana-Blues genre with a knife so sharp it draws blood"....
-GOOD TIMES, MAGAZINE, SANTA CRUZ, CA.
"This guy-(Arthur Godfrey)-has elicited more e-mail and phone calls than any "unknown" ever has...on the volume of Greg Brown or Little Feat...unbelievable"...KPIG RADIO

author: Jill Ann ChurchVery relaxing after a hard day's work. The words are familiar to the soul; the music serves as a badly needed massage.
