(Brad Kava review of "EAST SIDE OF TOWN")
My name is Arthur Godfrey. I am a singer/songwriter from Boston now living in Nashville, T.N. I view myself as an Americana performer with a hard city twist engrained in my music. My goal is to try and paint a picture for the listener so vivid they can open up the door of the song, step inside and get as close as they dare. Seven of the eight songs on this CD are covers by some of my favorite Americana song writers: Woody Guthrie, Townes Van Zandt, Bob Dylan, Steven Fromholz, Bruce Springsteen and two by John Prine. Thanks for your "ear", Arthur.
"Great music and beautiful strong songs"...

Welcome to the "name sounds famous musician club".....great CD!!!
author: Ron ElyGreat choice of songs, great renditions, vocals, production. And regarding the earlier post saying the writer would like to hear Arthur do some Ron Ely songs....It's probably a mistake, but go to http://www.myspace.com/ronely , or to www.peterharperart.com and click Your CHOICE for the January, 2006 winner and check out one of my songs!
Superb Live performance... treat yourself!
author: Gil KnutsonI would actually give this 10 stars for the first two cuts alone, for I think they are that good! If you are into listening to an honest voice performing live, this is the album to get if you like folk, blues or country. His covers are different enough to be new, yet very familiar. I would like to hear him do some Ron Ely material. I will never get to see him live out here in Western Canada, so this CD will have to do... My loss, for I am convinced the show would be a knockout if this album is any indication! ...Gil in Sardis, BC

When I'm in the mood to hear a guy singing with a guitar simple and pure this is the cd I pull out. Hits the spot everytime. He does an excellent job on all the covers and the song he wrote She's too far gone is gorgeous... good writing original sound....
